We are looking for a Software Engineer III to join our team and build the Search processes billions of queries for millions of products on Walmart sites and apps worldwide. Whenever a user types in a query or browses through product categories on the website, phone, or tablet, our service goes.

Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.

What you'll do....

Search processes billions of queries for millions of products on Walmart sites and apps worldwide. Whenever a user types in a query or browses through product categories on the website, phone, or tablet, our service goes to work. We mine structured and semi-structured data from product catalogs, social web, transactions, query logs, etc. at an unprecedented scale. We work on big data problems, cutting-edge relevance algorithms from information retrieval, machine learning, and ranking to deliver a high-availability, low-latency service, which directly impacts business metrics.

As a Software Engineer III, you’ll spend your days translating requirements into solutions, implementing with code, collaborating with cross-functional teams and providing us with the insights necessary to think beyond the status quo. You’ll work with other engineers or independently to get the job done.

  • Participates in the discovery phase of small to medium-sized projects to come up with high level design
  • Designs, implements, and tests complex code changes for specific business requirements
  • Analyzes business needs and develops plans to implement software requirements in conjunction with product management and architects
  • Independently handles high impact, critical software/systems monitoring issues and tickets/incidents
  • Manages small to large-sized complex projects
  • Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity
  • Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions
  • Troubleshoots business and production issues



What you'll bring...

  • 1 years’ experience designing technical solutions in response to customer requests or changes in retail business.
  • 2 years’ experience designing, leading, and implementing technology projects.
  • 2 years’ experience in production support, including problem identification, ticket documentation, and customer and vendor relations.
  • Java/JEE programming experience with a focus on server side components
  • Experience in developing Web applications; Experience with Spring framework
  • Experience with open source search engines like Solr, Lucene or Elastic Search
  • Scripting skills in at least one of the following:  Python, Perl or Shell and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Experience with Eclipse or other IDE development tools
  • Experience with Source Code Management Tools (GitHub, SVN, CVS)
  • Knowledge of standard tools for optimizing and testing code
  • Ability to operate effectively and independently in a dynamic, fluid environment

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00-$234,000.00
