Job Title: Banquet Server/Set up/Cashier
FLSA Status: Part time $16 per hour
Department: Food & Beverage
Reports to: Banquet Manager
Jekyll Island Convention Center, an ASM Global managed facility, has an immediate opening for part-time banquet servers.
Position Summary:
This position provides a high quality catering service for banquets.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be able to work unsupervised
- Must have attention to detail
- Must have good oral communication skills
- Must have strong customer service skills
- Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands, frequent changes, delays or unexpected events
- Must have strong interpersonal skills
- Must be results driven, follow direction and ask questions for clarification if needed
- Must be able to work flexible hours.
Major Responsibilities:
- Assist with collecting all banquet equipment to include flatware, china, glassware, and serving pieces needed for each event
- Prepares garnishes, beverages, condiments, and breads
- Clean and fill salt and pepper containers, sugar dishes, creamers, etc
- Assist with preparation and set-up of event room when necessary
- Prepare tables with place settings as instructed
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the standard drink recipes
- Maintains bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages
- Establish and maintain positive client relationships
- Breakdown tables and banquet equipment after each event
- Clean and return serving pieces to proper storage area
- Performs cash handling and/or cashiering functions based on demand
- Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
- Daily lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs. Up to 10 minutes at a time.
- Constant reaching, standing, walking and stooping
- Performing work through repetitive eye/hand coordination
- Must be able to balance and have good manual dexterity
- Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands, frequent changes, delays or unexpected events
- Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
