POSITION OVERVIEW

The Vice President, Financing with the Senior Vice President, Financing and his leadership team, takes a leadership role and represents the Financing team in ensuring alignment of initiatives and projects that enable the achievement of business objectives, as well as corporate priorities.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET
 

Leadership

  • Develop and implement a sales and marketing plan to ensure that the strategy for financing and advisory services is realized for your region.

  • Work closely with partner groups: BDC Growth and Transition Capital, BDC Advisory and BDC Corporate Finance to identify businesses with significant growth potential and opportunities for BDC to serve their needs.

  • Participate in positioning BDC as a leading-edge business development organization by developing and implementing strategies for the territory, ensuring alignment with the regional strategy.

  • Develop and foster relationships with professional networks, financial and business communities, suppliers, and counterparts of other organizations to keep abreast of emerging trends and their relevance to BDC.

  • Ensure accountability for compliance to business rules, policies and procedures in all aspects of the life of a loan (business development, underwriting, security & disbursement and administration & relationship).

Market

  • Optimize productivity by ensuring the proper allocation of resources for acquisition of new client relationships and lead the Business Activity Management exercise for the teams.

  • Develop and implement tactical initiatives to help clients grow by adding value through knowledge, advice, and additional financing, ensuring that repeat and retention goals are optimized, while balancing profit and risk.

  • Plan and manage the visibility efforts to enhance and maximize BDC’s presence in the marketplace.

  • In line with BDC’s strategies, maximize efforts to focus on helping underserved entrepreneur markets with BDC products and services.

People

  • Develop and implement a strategy to ensure that the organization and client’s needs are met through talent management, employee engagement, total rewards, learning and development, and career and performance management.

  • Ensure BDC’s recruiting efforts offer opportunities for diversity and are representative of the communities in which BDC does business.

  • Develop and maintain effective communication channel to ensure the timely dissemination of information, implementation of initiatives and achievement of objectives.

  • Direct and lead the change strategy by supporting BDC projects, processes and orientations on the delivery of services in your territory.

Results, Profits and Risk

  • Monitor key variables for the successful delivery of financial and advisory services offer throughout the territory and act to ensure that objectives are met.

  • Lead and be accountable for the profitability of the portfolio and the advisory services practice through the levers of fees, interest rates and the efficiency targets through productivity and expense management.

  • Ensure sound risk management of the portfolio through balanced acquisition efforts in loan structuring, due diligence and risk mitigation and manage risk of existing clients.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Commerce or Finance or Business Administration

  • 15 years of relevant experience in commercial lending and people leadership

  • Strong communication skills and positive influence

  • Strong thinking skills and strategic implementation and execution

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

  • Highly organized and proactive

  • Bilingualism (English & French) is an asset
