POSITION PURPOSE:   

     

Administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Physician.  Operates and maintains the hyperbaric chamber(s) and associated systems and equipment. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Performs all aspects of hyperbaric operations in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, industry standards and safe practices, i.e., alignment of Oxygen system, cleaning and inspection of chambers, pressurize/depressurize chambers, monitor patient and equipment status. Adjusts machines as appropriate to treatment protocol and emergencies. Operates valves, reads gauges, communicates with the patient, recognizes problems and makes/charts decisions accordingly. Performs PtcO2 exams for perfusion if clinically indicated. Utilizes data software for wound management. Makes appropriate entries for daily hyperbaric treatments and wound care clinic visits. Utilizes sphygmomanometer, stethoscope and sweep hand timekeeper to assess patient pre and post treatment vital signs. Regularly monitors physician referral patterns to identify/manage trends. Works effectively with support personnel to convert wound care patients to HBO patients. Communicates effectively with patients/staff. Performs data entry and reconciliation for coding and charges appropriate for the wound care center. Provides leadership and safety training to other hyperbaric facility personnel. Must be responsible for maintaining all, including hospital associated, safety standards as required by various licensing and regulatory agencies.

SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW & REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • EMT, RN, LPN, RRT or other appropriate medical degree/certification required.
  • Successfully passed a UHMS or NBDHMT approved hyperbaric certification exam.
  • Maintain current CPR certification.
  • Microsoft Office proficient preferred.

Compensation Range

$20.55 - $30.83
