This is a more experienced Compliance Consultant, responsible for research, analysis and handling of complex Personal Insurance compliance matters related to complaint handling, claim handling, company licensing, producer licensing and appointment, adjuster licensing, rate, rule and form filing, proof of coverage, terminations, market conduct, and market analysis compliance programs, compliance policies and procedures, and/or quality assurance/self-audits for monitoring the business areas and brokers to ensure compliance with applicable provincial and federal requirements relevant to the area. As applicable interacts with internal business product, legal, government affairs, compliance, claim and outside regulatory agencies to resolve any compliance matters. Monitors or manage business areas compliance with legal requirements relevant to the area.
What Will You Do?
- Develops, designs and maintains Personal Insurance compliance programs and quality assurance measures for company/business.
- Review and provide detailed analysis and evaluation of compliance requirements for rate, rule and form filings, market regulatory actions, changes to laws, regulations and bulletins, policies and procedures, compliant handling, producer licensing and reporting, data calls, and/or compliance issues.
- Works with Corporate Audit as the lead liaison for Personal Insurance responsibilities, including audits & any associated CAPS, as well as control/SOX changes.
- May assist in the audits of assigned company brokers and/or business areas providing pre and post-audit research into those business practices and recommend appropriate action.
- Review and provide detailed evaluations of a departments adherence to Personal Insurance compliance requirements.
- Provide recommendations, prepare, conduct or facilitate training for related departments and individuals to ensure adherence to legal obligations at all levels.
- Assists with Personal Insurance market conduct and regulatory exams and may act as liaison between company personnel and examiners.
- May provide guidance and assistance to other functional areas.
- Reviews and analyzes national and provincial statutes, regulations, bulletins, etc. to determine impact to Personal Insurance.
- Provides technical expertise and support within business area.
- Stays current on changes and developments that impact business requirements.
- Develops and maintains extensive contacts with external and internal personnel on matters affecting compliance matters.
- Conducts high level correspondence and detailed negotiations with internal business areas and external regulatory agencies to address any potential compliance issues and concerns and/or obtain approval for rate, rule and form filings.
- Prepare reports to management concerning potential compliance issues and exposures with rate, rule and form filing, complaint handling, regulatory fines, data calls, market analysis and market conduct activity.
- Assists in reviewing, monitoring, and/or providing detailed evaluations of processed work, providing recommendations for improvement to ensure consistent and superior service and compliance.
- Through the review and evaluation process, assist in determining appropriate policies and procedures as required.
- Manages compliance related projects or process re-design.
- Review, identify and disseminate new laws and regulations that have a compliance impact on the company/business. Assist in developing policies and procedures for records retention for company/business group.
- Coordinate Business Continuity Plans/Reports/Event management for business area.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
- Typically 6+ years of related experience.
- Business groups may require specific technical and leadership experience in addition to
- compliance experience.

What is a Must Have?
- Minimum of 2 years of related professional compliance experience is required.
