The Opportunity

Adobe Cloud Platform & Collaboration (ACPC) builds the cloud infrastructure behind Photoshop, Firefly, Express, Acrobat and other creative tools used by millions every day. We're looking for a Cloud Software Engineer who wants to take ownership of services that creative professionals around the world rely on and who understands complex service landscapes from client app to backend services with the goal to optimize the end-to-end integration.

You'll join a team of engineers that designs, builds, and operates microservices at scale across multiple cloud regions. We follow a "You build it, you own it" philosophy, meaning you'll have real responsibility from architecture through production.

In addition to backend service ownership, this role has a strong focus on how platform APIs are consumed by client applications. You will work closely with platform and client teams in Hamburg, the US, and India to ensure that data is efficiently consumed, cached, and synchronized in modern client applications.

What you'll Do

  • Build a strong liaison and collaborate with client teams to design APIs with a strong focus on client-side consumption, performance, and data consistency.

  • Develop and operate Java microservices that power Adobe’s cloud platform, serving a large global audience via REST and GraphQL APIs.

  • Improve the performance, reliability, and security of services your team owns end-to-end

  • Apply modern engineering practices and AI-assisted tooling to make development faster and more productive

  • Raise the quality bar through code reviews, testing strategies, and thoughtful system design

  • Collaborate closely with clients of the platform across different Adobe engineering and product organizations

  • Contribute to a culture of continuous learning, shared ownership, and open collaboration across teams

What you need to succeed

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, ideally in a role that combined cloud-native environments and responsive Web applications

  • Strong programming skills in Java and Javascript/Typescript

  • Solid understanding of distributed systems and cloud platforms such as AWS

  • Hands-on experience with Spring, RESTful and GraphQL APIs, and NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, or DynamoDB

  • Familiarity with modern client frameworks (e.g. React or Apollo Client), especially around data handling (not UI development)

  • Familiarity with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger or Splunk

  • Clear communication skills in German and English

  • Curious about modern development practices, including AI-assisted development and automation

What We Offer You!

  • Real impact at scale: your work directly enables millions of users to create and collaborate

  • Ownership and autonomy over the services you build, from design through production

  • A global, diverse team that brings different perspectives to hard problems

  • 2–3 on-site days per week at our Hamburg office, with flexibility to work from home

  • Growth opportunities in an expanding team, where you can take on more responsibility over time

Not sure if you meet every point? Apply anyway. We care about what you can contribute, not a perfect checklist.
