Job Summary

The Security Operations Center Specialist works under general direction and will assume primary responsibility for monitoring internal and external security events with potential impact to Sr. Leadership, staff, business assets, reputation, and/or facilities.  This individual will utilize critical thinking, problem solving skills, and escalation skills to resolve security and access control requirements for employees, contractors, visitors, and additional external customers. Security Operations Specialist will provide support to our security contractors, process implementation and improvement, technical and project management, alarm monitoring, and critical incident response. Communication and customer service skills must be a priority when engaging with customers and employees.

Job Description

Hours: Saturday 7pm-7am and Sunday 9pm-9am

Core Responsibilities

  • Writes reports of daily activities and issues; such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
  • Answers telephone, radio, and email communications and dispatches resources as required.
  • Provides timely communications and actionable responses and escalations to support the protection of people, assets/intellectual property, facilities, and related interests.
  • Executes security policies and procedures for all locations and programs to ensure best practices are in place to protect people, property, and reputation.
  • Maintains situational awareness at all times and prepares reports as required based on active incidents or special events.
  • Works on resolving preliminary investigations.
  • Responds to medical incidents on site.
  • Supports the Special Event program as required.
  • Escalates different types of calls (customer calls, technician down calls, HIPAA related calls).
  • Responsible for the collection and escalation of alerts that come into the GSOC based on threat or incident type.
  • Serves as the hub for the monitoring and interpretation of physical risks and threats that may affect the business and ensure all physical security systems, both hardware and software, are functioning properly, and immediately notify appropriate stakeholders.
  • Utilizes security technology and systems to include: Access management systems, CCTV, mapping systems, and various intelligence tools.
  • Identifies and communicates items requiring the attention of senior management and coordinates with Security Managers to provide necessary support of contract security activity
  • Inspects SOC/GSOC systems and functions to ensure procedures and protocols are in place to enable the timely and effective response to, and management of, incidents, alarms, notifications, calls and other activities
  • Executes operational reports for Key Performance Indicators.
  • Oversees the physical operations for each operational center, including the subcontracted security personnel
  • Works on projects as necessary that may include: administering training, writing SOPs, reviewing SOPs, compiling metrics, pulling data and helping GSOC leadership as necessary.
  • Escalates and provides information to nonlaw enforcement and law enforcement issuing documents to the company
  • Manages day to day tasks in the GSOC that pertain to security operations.
  • Liaise with contracted security staff on special tasks as required.
  • Work collaboratively with other programs, departments, and entities within Comcast.
  • Assists supervisors with creating training material and conducts training when requested.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
