Job Description:

Community Support Specialist (Co-Occurring Disorders)

Springfield, Missouri

Full Time, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

As a Community Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing mentorship, guidance, and hope to those on their path to recovery.

Working on the ITCD (Integrated Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders) team, you will utilize your experience with substance use recovery and provide support and activities through an organized treatment plan designed to ease an individual’s immediate and continued adjustment to community living. You will use advanced knowledge of psychological concepts, evidenced based interventions and coordinating delivery of mental health services with other services provided by practitioners and community partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and activities to clients through an organized treatment plan designed to ease their transition into community living.
  • Utilize a supportive, educational approach to promote improved functioning and encourage recovery and resilience.
  • Coordinate comprehensive follow-ups for clients, including outreach and engagement as needed.
  • Employ advanced knowledge of psychological concepts, evidence-based interventions, and coordination of mental health services with other community partners.
  • Use specialized knowledge of behavioral science principles, such as motivational interviewing, reinforcement, operant conditioning, and cognitive processing.
  • Spend time in the community, visiting clients in their homes, clinics, and other locations.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Reliable vehicle and acceptable recent driving record.

  • Work experience in a related human services field may substitute for educational requirements.  *Related fields may include direct support such as case management, residential support, developmentally disabled support, vocational rehabilitation, and more. Four years of qualifying experience minimum or a combination of education and experience equaling four years required.
