The NISC IV program at Leidos is seeking a Solutions Architect to perform a variety of duties in connection with an agile Appian based software development effort for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Office of Aviation Safety. As the project Solutions Architect, you will support the overall design and integration of multiple applications into the current FAA Aviation Safety environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership in terms of whole system solution, covering technical, service and process aspects. Make use of Subject Matter Experts and specialists to assist them in developing solutions that meet the customer requirements, whilst engaging with systems engineering to ensure that solutions are deliverable and maintainable
- Work in partnership with the Project Manager to ensure a successful delivery. Defining a technical solution that is acceptable to the client within the project constraints of cost, schedule, and risk
- Responsible for the solution to ensure that each change appropriately integrates with the current mission critical legacy systems and meets the customer needs, including functionality, timescales, and costs.
- Respond to customer change requests
- Communicate and enforce architectural guidance, direction, and decisions with technical teams using the AWS cloud platform.
- Leadership role in supporting the Cloud migration activities and providing solutions expertise
- Lead other engineering team members to ensure that the design is complete and ensuring that the lower-level design work is consistent with your high-level designs.
- Provide architectural support, guidance, and advice to software development teams on using the AWS cloud services and security
- Production of high/low level designs that can be used by the engineering team to build a compliant solution
- Engaging with the customer to ensure that solutions are deliverable
- Represent the company on customer governance boards.
- Be the point of contact for customer technical issues and requirements clarification.
- Present and champion design decisions with the customer to ensure acceptance by FAA Information Technology Office
- Evaluate the costs and identify efficiencies of delivering service to the customer
- Investigate cloud native technologies to improve performance in support of the customer’s mission
- Identify and manage technical risks with respect to the cloud architecture.
- Negotiate with stakeholders (Vendors, Customer, etc.) to generate ideas and clarify specifications.
- Delegate tasks as necessary to the team and maintains accountability for results.
- Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyzes.
- Create and update cloud architecture diagrams and documentation.
- Identify, evaluate, and demonstrate solutions to complex system problems.
- Actively participate in all customer software development stage gate reviews including preparation of review materials.
- Must be a self-starter, strong leader, and have the ability to work independently with little supervision.
Basic Qualifications:
- Requires a BA/BS or equivalent experience and 10+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 8+ years or prior relevant experience.
- Generally, has 7+ years of experience supervising or leading teams or projects.
- Experienced in implementing and overseeing cloud computing strategy, and delivery of cloud solutions.
- Experienced in cloud deployment, operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud architecture and core services.
- Demonstrated experience implementing/managing and operationalizing the Appian based applications
- Demonstrated understanding of IT infrastructure tools, processes and practices, including Cloud resource provisions, deployment, microservices, and DevOps
- Solid knowledge on Cloud security and monitoring
- Team Lead and/or Technical Lead experience
- Must be a US citizen or a permenant residence in order to be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous FAA and/or Government contracting work experience.
- Demonstrated Cloud deployment models and related experience
- Additional relevant AWS or other professional certifications

Pay Range:
Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00
