Memorial Drive Vet Clinic is actively seeking an experienced veterinary assistant to join our practice. The ideal candidate will be confident in assisting the technicians and veterinarians with the daily task from proper animal handling restraint to assisting in rooms, helping with patients in the hospital, collecting samples, gathering history, helping with surgical patient discharges, walking dogs, cleaning cages, helping stock, organizing and cleaning the hospital, as well as being a supportive and positive team member with a compassionate and a friendly attitude. There are times this position will call for you to help out with the front desk duties, answering phones, scheduling appointments, helping with customer service, check-in/check-out, and basic front desk responsibilities. The veterinary industry is constantly advancing and here at Memorial Drive Vet Clinic, we encourage our staff to do the same. Requirements:
1-2 years of experience in vet med
HS diploma or Educational Equivalent
Experience with proper animal handling and restraint
Knowledge of commonly used veterinary terminology
Knowledge of basic tools and equipment
Knowledge of basic procedures
Ability to use allotted time properly to accomplish daily task
Compassionate toward our clients and their pets
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Able to lift 40 lbs without assistance
Able to multi-task efficiently and effectively
Qualifications
Experience as a veterinary technician or assistant.
Strong animal handling skills and knowledge of clinical procedures.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT, RVT, or LVT) preferred – or eligibility to obtain licensure based on state requirements.
Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, and surgical procedures.
Safely handle and restrain animals; administer medications and vaccines.
Collect lab samples and maintain accurate patient records.
Educate clients on pet care and ensure a clean, organized work environment.
