The Challenge

Pladis is looking for a Commercial Controller to join the team managing the distributor markets of Europe for pladis. This region is a fast-growing region with massive opportunities.

Your responsibilities

The Commercial Controller will support the expansion of the business by developing tools to provide clear insightful analysis of performance, great decision support and excellent governance in close cooperation with business partners. Your main objective is to influence and support maximizing value creation and the growth agenda with insightful and actionable financial analysis for all significant investment decisions in the region. The role can be based in either Brussels, Belgium or Zaandam, the Netherlands and will be reporting into the Finance Manager - Europe. The role will require regular travel within the European Region.

Main activities to be performed:

  • Support in planning process, short/long term plans, annual budget and monthly reporting of management accounts. Ensuring outputs are delivered on time, efficiently and accurately
  • Support development of standard decision support tools that facilitate consistent, insightful evaluation and actionable analysis in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactively challenge the ‘status quo’ to improve how things work.
  • Maintain/Develop effective relationships with the regional leadership team.
  • Partner with the sales managers to ensure that business & financial performance is clear and the drivers of performance are understood.
  • Develop and maintain analysis to understand net sales performance and profitability per SKU
  • Challenge and evaluate key investment decisions to assess their delivery including marketing and trade investment, acquisition opportunities, capital investment appraisal, innovation business cases and other ad-hoc projects.
  • Actively involved to co-develop with the business a net revenue management strategy

What you bring?

Essential

  • University degree in Finance or similar qualification
  • 2 – 5 years relevant work experience in decision support roles
  • Excellent language skills in English (fluent written and spoken) -
  • Strong Financial Analysis and modelling skills, including investment appraisal techniques
  • Proven track record of delivering robust and insightful financial analysis
  • Excellent command of MS Office applications, especially Excel

Desirable

  • Experience of working with Commercial or Supply Chain business partners
  • Other European languages (French/German/Italian/Turkish)
  • International experience
  • Track record of working with Senior management
  • Experience with ERP systems and BI tooling (such as Power BI)
  • Experience with planning and forecasting
