Join our dynamic US Medical Affairs team at GSK and lead our engagement activities with professional healthcare societies. As an Associate Director, Professional Society Engagement in the Specialty Therapeutic Area (TA), you will play a pivotal role in orchestrating congresses and other activities aligned to professional societies in order to enhance GSK's leadership in these critical healthcare sectors.

In this role, you will be instrumental in informing our Specialty medical strategies aligned to professional societies and executing the associated activities, fostering robust relationships with US-based healthcare organizations, and ensuring our presence is impactful at key national events.

Key Responsibilities:

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following.

  • Collaborate with Medicine teams to develop, execute and assess the effectiveness of Professional Society Engagement plans, inclusive of Congresses, Memberships, and Sponsorships.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with Congress Organizers and other Professional Society leaders in collaboration with field medical, positioning GSK for optimal engagement and visibility.

  • Oversee the strategic alignment of sponsorships and memberships, manage budgets and internal approval processes, and track of expenditures.

  • Lead the congress planning process for US-based Specialty meetings with cross-functional teams to define GSK's congress presence and ensure planning and execution is aligned to USMA and the GSK enterprise needs & objectives and in line with all GSK policies and processes.

  • Address and escalate any risks related to Professional Society engagement as necessary.

  • Oversee the implementation of medical activities and the associated measurement plan during congresses. Disseminate key learnings and metrics post-event.

  • Ensure GSK's Medical presence at US congresses is effectively managed and delivered on-site.

  • Work closely with the Global Franchise, US Pharma, and other internal stakeholders to continuously improve and innovate our approach to sponsored events and congresses.

  • Support the USMA annual strategic planning process by representing the voice of professional society interests and opportunities.

  • Manage contracts and performance of third-party vendors and agencies to ensure compliance and delivery of services.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Advanced degree (Master’s, PharmD, PhD, nursing, allied health professional, or other scientific/business degree).

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Proven experience with external customer engagement and professional organizations.

  • Familiarity with medical congress planning and management.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead cross-functional teams and manage projects while influencing without authority.

  • Strong skills in process management, operations, strategy development, and budget management.

  • Effective stakeholder management, communication planning, and change management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Direct experience with US Professional Medical Societies.

  • Leadership experience

  • Knowledge of GSK's matrix structure and organizational functions.

  • Familiarity with US Medical Affairs operations.

The annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $150,450 to $203,550 taking into account a number of factors including work location within the US market, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role. Available benefits include health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
