Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Manager Tax (Global Tax Reporting Centre of Excellence Lead join our team who will have the opportunity to champion our Global Tax Reporting (EAME)

The Centre of Excellence (COE) Lead is a Tax Manager in the Global Tax Reporting group. You will lead the COE team tasked with the design and implementation of processes to gather the required financial and other data leveraging US GAAP financial statements to support OECD Pillar 2 compliance as well as tax transparency and related ESG initiatives. You will also act as the designated point of contact for the oversight of non-US direct tax compliance processes and controls for over 100 entities in the Asia-Pacific region through the relationship with our global external service provider and in collaboration with our Global Tax organization.


The preference for this role is to be based out of Bangalore, Whitefield office

Job summary

The Centre of Excellence (COE) Lead is a Tax Manager in the Global Tax Reporting group. You will lead the COE team tasked with the design and implementation of processes to gather the required financial and other data leveraging US GAAP financial statements to support OECD Pillar 2 compliance as well as tax transparency and related ESG initiatives. You will also act as the designated point of contact for the oversight of non-US direct tax compliance processes and controls for over 100 entities in the Asia-Pacific region through the relationship with our global external service provider and in collaboration with our Global Tax organization.

                               

This process and governance-related role entails frequent interactions with external service providers, Corporate Accounting, Global Business Services (GBS) and Global Tax managers and directors. This experienced professional utilizes organizational skills and a high-level of accountability to ensure that tax reporting obligations are prepared and filed in accordance with Caterpillar protocols.

What you will do


 

  • Lead a team in the design, implementation and ongoing management of the data gathering process for Pillar 2 compliance. This includes analysis, quality assurance and processing of the data received from Corporate Accounting, GBS and other sources, and preparation of the Pillar 2 returns in the implemented IT solution
  • Proactively collaborate with Corporate Accounting, GBS, Global Tax managers and external service providers to deliver timely filing of local country income tax returns and transfer pricing documentation in the Asia-Pacific region in line with Caterpillar governance protocols
  • Support projects related to tax reporting process improvements, enhanced governance, or other tax transparency and ESG related initiatives

What you will have 

  • Education/Experience:  The position typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or business-related degree and 7+ years of progressively responsible finance experience.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts; adapts documents and correspondence for intended audience; demonstrates both empathy and assertiveness when communicating with internal and external business partners; communicates well downward, upward, and outward; employs appropriate methods of persuasion when soliciting agreement
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches and tools for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving operational or process problems; contributes to standard practices for problem-solving approaches, tools, and processes
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; evaluates and makes contributions to best practices; demonstrates expertise in quality assurance tools, techniques, and standards.
  • Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools
  • Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting
  • Managing People: Knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to lead successful teams

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Strong US GAAP accounting expertise. Experience of working with different local GAAP’s (e.g. IFRS) and also accounting for income tax processes is an added strength
  • A good understanding of finance and business processes in global organizations. Experience of non-US direct tax compliance requirements including tax returns and transfer pricing is an added strength but not required. Prior Pillar 2 knowledge is not a requirement
  • Strong knowledge of M365 and familiarity with SharePoint. Experience with finance related reporting tools such as SAP and Data Lakes is an added strength
  • Experience of working in a Shared Services environment. Experience of leading a team is an added strength
  • Strong communication skills, accountability, organizational skills, and good judgment  
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and process management & improvement skills
  • Collaborative, proactive, team-oriented personality with the ability to build and foster relationships with internal and external business partners 
  • Fluency in English, both oral and written. Other languages are an added strength
