What You Will Do:

The Client Relationship Executive State and Local Government (SLG) is a Business Development Director role responsible for business development strategy and sales execution to support the growth of the State and Local Government account portfolio. The ideal Client Relationship Executive (CRE) will possess a broad understanding of the State and Local Government marketplace and is knowledgeable across a range of topics including business process optimization, cost takeout, managed services, change management, and technology enablement.

As part of the SLG team, CRE will seek to position value added services with clients and enhance the position of Guidehouse in the market. The CRE role demands an extremely well networked client relationship/business development professional with existing network contacts in state agencies, large cities and counties, and SLG solution providers at partners / competitors. Responsibilities include:

  • Perform consultative selling of complex, transformational solutions that deliver outcome-based results
  • Be a Trusted Advisor to Clients (adept at bringing creative solutions to senior level client relationships)
  • Expand Guidehouse client positioning by bringing the entirety of our solution portfolio to our SLG clientele
  • Prepare and deliver clear, insightful, and influential executive-level presentations and communications
  • Be a seasoned business developer by identifying, initiating and closing new SLG opportunities with existing clients and new clients.
  • Understand client needs based upon knowledge of the SLG marketplace, clients’ changing operational needs and the evolving needs of their constituents and citizens
  • Know key issues driving transformation in state and local government
  • Understand key supporting technologies and leading industry vendors
  • Participate in Account Teams and joint account planning
  • Serve as a sales advisor to account team leadership on solution definition and account strategy
  • Play a leading role in key developing and closing key pursuits in a portfolio of select, named accounts

What You Will Need:

  • Track record of bringing deep expertise and background gained in SLG to develop and implement growth strategies in the SLG with preference in developing South
  • 10+ yrs. in SLG industry with the majority selling professional services within the SLG consulting industry
  • Use executive presence and gravitas to work with Guidehouse senior executive leadership
  • Be trusted advisor to clients and internal stakeholders and must demonstrate a high degree of thought leadership and sales affinity that results in net new sales
  • Able to influence and collaborate with senior level state agency officials and/or elected officials, demonstrating expert teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Display deep sales acumen and have excellent communication skills
  • Able to work build relationships at all levels of the company, so you can effectively leverage all the resources Guidehouse as needed
  • Have a sustained strong presence and relationships with city, state, and county leaders within our top accounts
  • Deeply understand the major issues facing state and local government today, competitors, and key market trends in the industry
  • In depth understanding on the major issues (e.g., budgets, priorities, etc.), competitors, and key market trends in the industry
  • Ability to negotiate complex and strategic contracts on significant opportunities
  • Able to travel per client and organizational demands (travel up to 50%)
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university
  • The successful candidate must not be subject to employment restrictions from a former employer (such as a non-compete) that would prevent the candidate from performing the job responsibilities as described.

  • Skilled at issue-based problem-solving, aligning consulting solutions to address client needs
  • Preference will be given to candidates who live in Albany, Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, Sacramento

The annual salary range for this position is $183,200.00-$274,800.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
