About the Role:

As a Mobile Returns Officer, you’ll be responsible for the end-to-end handling, tracking, and secure processing of returned Defence mobile devices. You’ll play an important role in ensuring devices are managed securely, records are maintained accurately, and operational processes are completed efficiently.

This role is operational and administrative in nature and does not involve customer troubleshooting or technical service desk support.

Working within a supportive team environment, you’ll manage routine workflows and help maintain secure and compliant handling of mobile assets.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Receiving and processing returned mobile devices from Defence stakeholders

  • Removing SIM cards and preparing devices for processing

  • Completing device checks and sanitisation activities

  • Coordinating secure destruction, disposal, or repurposing of devices

  • Maintaining accurate spreadsheets, tracking logs, and internal system records

  • Updating systems to ensure devices are correctly processed and accounted for

  • Coordinating with internal teams to support smooth operational outcomes

  • Providing clear updates and written communication where required

Previous technical or ICT support experience is not required. Training will be provided for all systems and tools used within the role.

  • Microsoft Excel (basic data entry and tracking)

  • Microsoft Outlook and Word

  • Telstra systems and device management tools (training provided)

Requirements

Essential

  • Ability to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance

  • Current driver’s licence

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

  • Ability to follow structured processes and security requirements

Desirable

  • Experience working with mobile devices, logistics, or asset handling

  • Experience in operational, administrative, or process-driven environments

Working Arrangements

This is a fully office-based role located in Canberra due to the physical handling and processing of mobile devices. Remote or hybrid working arrangements are not available for this position.
