Network Operations Leader - IT Outsourcing - Remote within United States

This is a remote position - candidate can be located anywhere in United States. This position involves travel to our Client Location in Salt Lake City UT about 2-3 times every quarter.

About this role

As a Network Operations Leader, you will manage and lead our infrastructure services teams, ensuring seamless daily operations. The ideal candidate will support the development and execution of infrastructure strategies and projects, monitor system performance, and maintain high levels of availability and security. They will collaborate with various teams and customers to address infrastructure needs, implement best practices, and resolve issues efficiently. Additionally, the Network Operations Leader will assist in creating and maintaining documentation and optimizing resource allocation for infrastructure initiatives. This role requires a proactive, communicative, and technically proficient individual committed to operational excellence.

What you’ll do

The responsibilities include network planning, coordinating work of the various delivery teams, submitting NetSRM’s for engagement, assisting troubleshooting efforts, helping client with requirements to develop solutions, managing turnover of network devices for support.  Ensuring accuracy of network billing and CMDB.  Vendor management.  Being the point of contact for the Account Team for all network related issues.  The position requires a combination of technical, organization, planning, documentation, and leadership skills.  Prior experience performing network implementations and/or network support are a must. 

 

Daily responsibilities may include:

  • Network Solutions Development: Collaborate with customers or account teams to design and develop tailored network solutions.
  • Project Coordination: Work closely with Technical Project Managers to understand project priorities, effectively sequencing network projects accordingly.
  • Team Communication: Facilitate clear communication within project teams to set deliverables, establish expectations, and outline time/resource requirements.
  • Risk Management: Identify and proactively communicate potential risks throughout project lifecycles.
  • Change Management: Perform necessary change management activities and notifications, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruptions.
  • Incident Analysis: Lead GNOC efforts and conduct Root Cause Analysis when needed to address issues and improve processes.
  • Operational Coordination: Coordinate with Network Operations to ensure proper turnover and monitoring of new equipment, ensuring operational continuity.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Attend conference calls to explain proposed changes, seek approvals, and address any concerns.
  • Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including IP addresses, project tool statuses, drawings, and asset inventories.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and lead teams responsible for infrastructure services, overseeing their daily activities to ensure optimal performance.
  • Strategy Support: Contribute to the development and execution of infrastructure strategies and projects, aligning with business goals.
  • System Monitoring: Monitor and maintain the performance, availability, and security of infrastructure systems, ensuring reliability and efficiency.
  • Collaborative Solutions: Work with other teams or customers to understand their infrastructure needs and provide effective solutions.
  • Best Practices Implementation: Implement and adhere to infrastructure best practices and standards, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Issue Resolution: Act as the primary point of contact for resolving infrastructure-related issues and incidents.
  • Documentation Management: Assist in creating and maintaining comprehensive infrastructure documentation for reference and compliance.
  • Resource Optimization: Participate in the optimization of resource allocation for infrastructure projects and initiatives.

Key Qualifications:

  • Design and Implementation Expertise: Proven experience in designing and implementing solutions in moderately complex to highly complex environments.
  • Cisco Networking Proficiency: Hands-on experience with multi-protocol, multi-tiered Cisco routers and switches.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of Firewalls, Load Balancers, cabling systems, and data communications.
  • Multi-Project Management: Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently while maintaining high standards of work.
  • Troubleshooting Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, with a focus on identifying and resolving technical issues efficiently.
  • Availability for Support: Willingness to work occasional after-hours shifts as needed for implementation and troubleshooting support.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Adaptability and Creativity: Flexible and creative, able to adapt to rapidly changing environments where business objectives may evolve quickly.
  • Collaboration: A capable individual contributor with the ability to work effectively with other departments and coordinate activities.
  • Customer Service Orientation: Strong customer service skills, essential for building and maintaining positive relationships.
  • Vendor Management: Proven ability to manage vendor relationships, translate business requirements into technical delivery plans, and execute those plans effectively.
  • Technology Awareness: Commitment to staying current with changes in deployed technology and industry best practices.
  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized, with proficiency in time management, billing specifics, and company reporting activities.
  • Self-Motivation: A self-starter who takes ownership of projects, manages their own time effectively, and works without immediate supervision.
  • Receptive to Feedback: Ability to accept constructive feedback from managers and peers and use it to improve performance continuously.

Other Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • An advanced degree in a relevant field is a plus
  • Relevant certifications, such as CCNP, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, or CompTIA Project+, are a plus

Desired Experience:

  • 7+ years of relevant work experience within Network Operations
  • 3+ years in a similar role
  • Proven experience in infrastructure technology management
  • Proficiencies in project management and technical knowledge
  • A continuous learner that stays abreast with industry knowledge and technology

Compensation at DXC is influenced by an array of factors, including but not limited to the experience, job-related knowledge, skills, competencies, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is $91,400 - $169,700.
