About the role
This role is a Senior Associate level opportunity in the Global Client Group at Brookfield Asset Management with the focus being to support the senior client relationship managers (“CRMs”) in their goal to raise capital for the Brookfield Global Client Group, with a specific focus on institutional investors in South Asia & Taiwan, and to maintain existing client relationships.
The Senior Associate will work across all asset classes that Brookfield specializes in (Real Estate, Infrastructure, Renewables, Private Equity) and stretch across all parts of the fundraising process (marketing activities, direct client communications, research, client / prospect due diligence). This role will give early exposure to institutional fundraising in the alternatives industry.
The responsibilities of the role include:
Supporting all aspects of fund marketing activities, client prospect due diligence and onboarding processes.
Working with CRMs to originate new client investment activity.
Coordinating and attending update meetings with investment teams (prepare pre-meeting reports and appropriate materials, coordinate any follow-up)
Coverage of on-site due diligence meetings with investment teams (prepare pre-meeting reports and appropriate materials, coordinate any follow-up)
Where appropriate, directly communicating with clients to support their due diligence requests.
Maintaining Brookfield’s internal CRM system (Salesforce), ensuring that the system is up to date for internal reporting purposes.
Assisting with ad-hoc Business Development activities.
Conducting alternative asset industry research and client-specific research:
Compiling detailed pre-meeting reports for each client meeting involving Brookfield investment professionals
Completing ad-hoc profiles on prospects as needed.
Detailed research and analysis, leveraging market data and other sources, with the aim of creating targeted prospective investor lists for new funds and strategies.
Monitoring industry press for information relating to our respective prospects and competitors.
In conjunction with Communications and Project Management Teams, help coordinate road shows, conferences, and investor meetings.
Assisting with conference/ meeting planning: setup, prepare and co-ordinate with different stakeholders (both within and beyond the organization)
Facilitating broad investor communication initiatives.
About you
Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business management, marketing, communications, or other relevant discipline
Fluency in Mandarin would be an advantage.
5-7 years of experience in private equity investments (LP or GP), fund marketing, due diligence, sales, client services or other fundraising or client function
Strong understanding of the fundraising process (from early-stage dialogue to process completion)
Demonstrated understanding of the fund subscription processes and key negotiation items.
Demonstrated ability to manage investor meetings as required and to identify cross selling opportunities.
Required understanding of corporate valuations, competitive landscape and positioning of funds
Undergraduate degree with an excellent academic background
Post graduate studies in finance such as CFA, MBA, or CA/CPA a plus.
Strong investment and financial analytical capabilities and investment reporting experience
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), experience of Salesforce a plus
Team player with positive attitude and pro-active approach to work
Able to develop a strong internal/external network and ability to build relationships and work with professionals around the organization.
Proactively seeks opportunities to get involved in more challenging projects.
Ability to multi-task and work in a very fast-paced and team-oriented environment
Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and creative problem-solving ability
Strong written and verbal communication skills including preparation and delivery of presentations.
