Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for a Junior Traffic Control Officer that can apply their practical skills to support the safe temporary operation of one of Hitachi Rail’s key projects in Taiwan. 

The position is based in Taipei, Taiwan reporting to the Commissioning Function, working at the SanYing Depot.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the safe implementation of Construction and Testing activities.
  • Onsite daily coordination between construction and testing parties
  • Able to work varying roster patterns (i.e. Day / Night shifts).
  • Ensure that the Train Drivers and OCC Operators have received the Temporary Operation training and instructions prior to any works.
  • Ensure that the Train Drivers and OCC Operators are:
  • Competent and Certified for the tasks given,
  • Fit for work
  • Establish a roster pattern for Train Drivers and OCC Operators to manage fatigue over the varying operation shifts
  • For the manual movements provide to the train driver detail instructions of the train movement(s) to be performed including train speed and stop point, before issuing the ‘start movement’ command
  • Collect the daily activity program and instructions from the Permit to Work Officer to prepare the dynamic tests,
  • Support the Senior TCO to manage the traffic for all types of Rail Vehicle in zones controlled by Temporary Operation Organization
  • Issue the Train Mission Order to the test Train Drivers, record which driver is on which train and the method of  communication with the driver (e.g. TETRA Radio number, mobile phone number)
  • Coordinate with the Permit to Work Office for all the track access requests
  • Ensure that OCC/Train Driver communications are recorded
  • Capable of understanding and implementing the associated controls to request the OCC Operator to energize or de-energize the Traction Power Supply upon request from the Train Driver for test, investigation or repair activities on track.
  • Coordinate with the trackside personal to ensure that the tracks are clear of personnel and that the manual operation of points match the necessary turnout configuration to allow for the successful and safe execution of train movement (s)

Experience:

  • Electrical, Electronic, Computer Engineering or Information Technology
  • Technology Qualifications/ Diploma or University Degree
  • Technical Background – 2 years of experience

Skills/Attributes:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Mandarin
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite Applications (i.e. Excel, Word)
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Driver’s license
