Job Description Summary

The Gas Turbine Performance Design & Methods team is seeking a Lead Engineer to support steady state thermodynamic characterization and optimization of heavy frame gas turbine performance.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Act as point of contact and provide dedicated leadership for all performance-related matters pertaining to designated gas turbine frame(s).
  • Develop gas turbine thermodynamic models in support of new unit sales, project requisition, aftermarket conversions, modifications and uprates.
  • Utilize analytical techniques to characterize fielded performance of gas turbines and identify opportunities to improve gas turbine operating robustness and/or performance
  • Coordinate gas turbine performance optimization exercises that maximize product value while balancing competing product requirements.
  • Support new unit sales, project requisition and aftermarket performance applications engineering teams.
  • Support gas turbine validation testing, field tuning and product services both in Greenville and at remote customer sites.
  • Develop skills and competencies of team members.  Mentor less experienced engineers.
  • Continuously improve organizational workflow and processes using lean methodologies.
  • Develop and protect the Intellectual Property rights of GE Vernova.

Required Qualifications

  • This role requires advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Performance Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
  • Experience in gas turbine related engineering and thermodynamics

Desired Characteristics

  • Master's Degree / PhD in Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Experience in applying thermodynamic principles and calculation methods to model turbomachinery (or related) equipment
  • Basic software development experience, preferably Python, Fortran, C, C++ or similar
  • Demonstrated design creativity and problem-solving capability
  • Design of experiment and numerical optimization experience
  • Influencing, leadership and project management skills
  • Strong communication, organizational and mentoring skills

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between 110200,00 -137800,00 USD annual.

The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: annual 15%.
