Role purpose

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading a set of cross-functional workstreams in the successful planning, execution, and completion of Project Optimus, a high-profile transformation project. They will co-ordinate the successful implementation including production transition beyond an initial Hypercare period. The Senior Project Manager ensures that workstreams are delivered on time, within scope, and meet the highest quality standards, using a combination of waterfall, agile and hybrid methodologies dependent on the workstream.

Key Accountabilities

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Solicit feedback and incorporate input to enhance project outcomes

Project Planning and Initiation:

  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables

  • Work with the Product Owner to Manage and prioritise the product backlog

  • Develop comprehensive project plans and schedules, outlining tasks, timelines, and resource requirements

  • Evaluate whether there are any deviations from the project plan, identifying nature of the deviations, reasons and impacts. Determine and implement corrective actions to ensure the project is set back on track .

Project Team Leadership:

  • Lead and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.

  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment, across internal and external resources

Execution Management:

  • Manage the activities required to achieve the outcome

  • Implement and enforce agile best practices, including the use of agile project management tools and techniques and execute projects in an iterative delivery manner.

  • Conduct thorough quality assessments to guarantee project deliverables meet established standards.

  • Implement continuous improvement by identifying and implementing initiatives based on project feedback to enhance team efficiency and delivery

Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess potential risks and challenges.

  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.

  • Proactively address issues to prevent project delays

Communication:

  • Facilitate clear and effective communication among team members and stakeholders.

  • Provide regular project updates to management and stakeholders

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenses and resource allocation.

  • Ensure projects are delivered within budgetary constraints.

Capability and Experience

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE (what you have done)

  • Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager, with a minimum of ten years in successful Technology project delivery

  • Experience in the successful implementation of a large-scale application transformation project inclusive of production transition beyond an initial Hypercare period

  • Experience in working on a Program of Work with complex testing needs across all Testing phases

  • Developing project deliverables and planning for Implementation phase i.e.: Run sheet

  • Track record of delivering complex projects successfully, on time and within budget

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, internal and external

CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE (what you need to know)

  • Education and Certifications: A relevant educational background, such as a degree in project management, or a related field, and certifications in Agile and product management

  • Agile Methodology: Proficiency in agile methodologies, and how practices can be adapted to support project objectives. Ability to blend agile and waterfall methodologies to suit the workstream, the business needs and the outcomes required.

  • Proficient in project management tools and software

  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, where introduction of new technology and change management are required, including management of both Waterfall and Agile projects from initiation to closure
