About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Acquisitions to join our Acquisitions team based in Milan. In this role, you’ll play a key part in acquiring content for Disney+, working closely with regional partners and local Italian distributors. You will collaborate across Programming, Operations, Legal, Finance, and other LOBs to ensure smooth, strategic, and timely deal execution. 

This role will require you to be onsite 4 days per week, with 1 day working from home.

What will you do

  • Acquire content for Disney+ in line with Annual Operating Plan (AOP) targets.
  • Act as the first point of contact for local content licensors.
  • Identify, screen, and pre-select content aligned with AOP and LRP strategies.
  • Negotiate content licensing and partnership deals with national and international distributors. 
  • Close deals in alignment with new contractual standards, localization requirements, Operations SLA’s, ad-tier requirements and quota reporting timings in collaboration with regional and local legal and business teams.
  • Supervise pre- and post-signature administrative phases of deal negotiations.
  • Collaborate with the Regional (EMEA) Acquisitions Team to coordinate on acquisitions, rights and deals strategy and benchmarks.  
  • Manage internal stakeholders across other department that work directly/indirectly with Acquisitions, such as Programming, Operations, Legal, Finance, Compliance etc. to ensure alignment.
  • Prepare presentations and support cross-functional meetings.
  • Manage deal approvals and after-care processes. Manage legal, financial, programming and management deal approvals and administer/supervise deal after care processes in collaboration with the acquisition supervisor/coordinator.
  • Line-manage the Acquisitions Supervisor.
  • Ensure compliance with Disney internal policy and best practice.
  • Manage flow of third-party non-linear acquisitions information.

What will you bring

  • Significant experience in content acquisitions or sales withing the broadcasting/ streaming industry
  • Network within the Italian broadcasting/streaming landscape.
  • Knowledge of Italian content market trends.
  • Strong reputation in content distribution/licensing community 
  • Proven track record in identifying opportunities and executing complex licensing deals.
  • Ability to manage/coordinate with internal stakeholders, with a track record of successfully negotiating complex licensing deals
  • Understanding of media trends and target audiences.
  • Experience managing direct reports
  • Clear-thinking, straightforward approach to creative problem-solving and decision making
  • Strong ability to build working relationships with other Disney departments and executives, and with external partners
  • Willingness to travel to distributors and industry events.
  • Fluency in Italian and English
