Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Sector has an opening for a proven leader who exhibits a high level of leadership behaviors and the ability to deliver on commitment as a Program Director 2. The Program Director will be responsible for all phases of program management for a large, classified effort that is scaling for high-rate production and will report to the Vice President of the Aerospace Structures and will be located in Clearfield, Utah. 

As the selected Program Director, you will be responsible for program execution. The primary focus of this role is to lead a diverse team responsible for production and on time delivery of product. The selected candidate is responsible for delivering on cost and on schedule, while achieving all technical requirements and creating customer intimacy to support value creation strategies and actions. As the Program Director, you will have full exposure to the breadth of complexity found in portfolio management as you will need to navigate the program through concurrent program life cycle phases.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage the cost, schedule and technical performance of scope across multiple agile release teams while integrating an Integrated Product Team (IPT) structure
  • Provide profit and loss leadership by actively managing a highly complex program across multiple sites, scaling for high-rate production to achieve completion within cost and schedule
  • Development and adherence to Integrated Master Schedules (IMS)
  • Development and adherence to budget baselines utilizing Earned Value Management (EVM) methodologies and tools
  • Ensure effective identification and management of issues, risks and opportunities. Drive issues and decisions to closure considering competing points of view, constraints, customer/stakeholder priorities and company strategic objectives
  • Submission of program performance in internal reporting systems (i.e. IPRS)
  • Advance program and NG strategic objectives by identifying and building advocacy for solutions in NG and customer forums
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with customers and other Enterprise stakeholders
  • Leverage NG’s mission, architecture, and software development expertise to provide forward-thinking solutions balanced with customer constraints and requirements and sustain an effective, engaged, and integrated team
  • Lead the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract
  • Act as primary customer contact for program activities and lead program review sessions with customer and/or NG leadership to address cost, schedule, and technical performance
  • Effectively coordinate and collaborate with functional and P&L leadership across NGC to ensure required staffing, processes and infrastructure are available to efficiently execute the contract

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years (or Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline and 9 years) of related experience; or Master’s degree and 8 years (or Master of Science in a STEM discipline and 7 years) of related experience
  • Related experience includes progressive engineering, operations, production program management or business leadership experience inclusive of pursuit, capture, design, development, EMD, low-rate initial production and full rate production
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting U.S. Government contracts and customers and/or project management in other industries
  • Demonstrated experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager
  • Demonstrated success leading teams and/or organizations to achieve a common goal
  • Previous profit and loss experience and demonstrated knowledge of EVMS methodologies and tools
  • Active DoD Top Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, prior to commencement of employment
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success building customer intimacy
  • Demonstrated success leading process change across multiple teams including peer leaders
  • Production / manufacturing program experience
  • Ability to engage and retain a multi-disciplinary work force
  • Knowledge/experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Special Program access

Salary Range: $217,200.00 - $325,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
