Manages demand forecast for subsection of La-Z-Boy business. Generates statistical forecasts weekly based on Point-of-Sale data, incorporating promotional and merchandising plans. Designs and standardizes processes in accordance with industry best practices.
Job Description:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Generates rolling 12-month statistical baseline forecasts weekly at the SKU-Location level based on point-of-sale data. Adjusts forecasts based on marketing intelligence and promotional plans. Identify trends and adjust. Analyzes outliers, following up with Retail Sales, Marketing, and Merchandising to understand root causes.
- Manages two large Retail Merchandising changes each year creating forecast that integrates in cannibalization of existing products, discontinuations, and new product offerings.
- Provides unconstrained demand plan to inventory team that is used to generate weekly replenishment orders. Collaborates on generating the inventory replenishment plan with the inventory team.
- Measures forecast error using standard MAPE, APE, and bias. Uses these error calculations to determine potential steps for improving and prioritizing intel to most critical for forecast accuracy. Understands financial impacts of forecast errors and is able to quantify errors for senior leadership.
- Acts as the liaison between Retail planning and Operations teams. Communicates demand plans with the broader operations team. Understands impacts of Retail Merchandising plans on manufacturing plants and purchasing teams.
- Maintains master data for planning parameters within the system. Understands how the various control flags for each item effect forecasting and replenishment planning. Troubleshoots technical issues with IT department.
SCOPE & IMPACT:
This position is responsible for forecasting the demand for our products and handing over the forecast to our supply planning team. The forecast developed is the first step in the IBP (Integrated Business Planning) process that the La-Z-Boy organization uses for overall alignment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Economics, Business or related field, with 6-8 years of relevant work experience
- 4+ years Demand Planning Experience
- Computer skills: Excel, PowerPoint,
- Up to 25% Travel.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- CPIM or CPF (IBF) Certification
- Certified Professional Forecaster (CPF) - (Institute of Business Forecasting & Planning (IBF))
- Background in Statistics or Retail Planning
