General Description:

Under limited direction, functions on the multidisciplinary team as an advocate and educator for patient; Schedules patient testing/procedures and ensures testing/procedure is scheduled in appropriate location with appropriate resources; Obtains pre-certification/authorization numbers and enters into the scheduling or registration system; Obtains and enters accurate insurance information.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates patient care throughout the continuum of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team

  • Serves as a resource for care management

  • Utilizes advanced practice expertise to ensures testing/procedure is scheduled in appropriate location with appropriate resources

  • Works in collaboration with internal and external interdisciplinary team members to achieve excellence in customer service

  • Communicates with all members of the team on behalf of the patient

  • Schedules patients for imaging testing/procedures in the hospital information system

  • Selects accurate insurance carrier plans and informs patient and/or physician office staff of any carrier that is out of network or of any carrier that may result in a decrease of benefits

  • Inform the physician office staff and/or patient of any testing requirements according to the instructions and queries in the scheduling module

  • Obtains, and/or works in coordination with the physician office, pre-certification/authorization numbers and enters them into the scheduling module

  • Utilize appropriate method/tool to communicate with patient access and other facility departments as necessary

  • Receive, maintain, and index physician orders per facility and SSC standards and guidelines

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:  High School Diploma or GED required. Associates degree preferred.

Experience:  0-3 years of experience. Prior scheduling experience in radiology or physician office preferred. Prior imaging experience preferred

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: None required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of imaging equipment locations and abilities.

  • Must communicate clearly and concisely.

  • Establishes and maintains long-term customer relationships, building trust and respect by consistently meeting or exceeding expectations.  

  • Ability to work effectively as a team member.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
