Kansas City Metropolitan Area
The Kansas City metropolitan area consists of 14 counties in western Missouri and Eastern Kansas, including Kansas City, Missouri, Kansas City, Kansas, and large suburbs on both sides of the state line: approximately 2.4 million people. Our health system serves a diverse group of patients from the entire metro area as well as referrals and transports from other metro and rural areas of Kansas.
Kansas City is a growing, diverse city, with something to offer for every interest. It is an enthusiastic sports town, home to the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals, both of whom have contracts to receive their care through our Health System. Kansas City is also home to both men's and women's professional soccer teams represented by KC Sporting and the KC Current respectively. Numerous universities and colleges are in the metro area or a short drive away.
Known as the City of Fountains, Kansas City is a vibrant arts town with its own opera company, city ballet, symphony, and several world-class museums. The World War One memorial is the only national museum dedicated to the War to End All Wars, with 300,000 visitors a year from all over the world. Our International Airport, competed in February of 2023, features 10 major airlines with many non-stop flights available. If you enjoy great food the KC metro features four James Beard Award winning chefs, including many other finalists and many chefs still to be discovered. The Kansas City, KS metropolitan area is known to be one of the best places to live in the U.S. based on affordability, extracurricular options and a Kansas public school system that is consistently ranked among the highest in the nation.
