About the team and the role: eBay, Inc. seeks MTS 1, Software Engineer in San Jose, CA

What you will accomplish: Define, design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software applications. Analyze requirements and prepare design, and develop robust, scalable software systems using object-oriented programming. Develop object-oriented software and design, code, and test complex software features. Identify product risks/defects, and fix performance, scalability, and other software live issues in a very time-critical environment. Identify and make recommendations to reduce software project risks. Drive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews. Design, develop, and test high throughput back-end software systems. Work with other engineers, managers, product management, quality analysts, and operations teams to develop innovative technical solutions that meet market needs with adherence to software development goals and principles. Develop best-in-class test automation code for software, carry out functional and non-functional testing including web accessibility, product app security, server-­side load and performance, and client-side page speed. Telecommuting permitted – work can be performed from anywhere in the U.S.

What you will bring:

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered, as a software engineer, or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered, as a software engineer, or a related occupation.

Salary: $172,931.00-234,850.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
