Position Overview 

Align is seeking an recent college graduate for a passion to start their career and grow into an IT Infrastructure Project Manager. The person we hire will be part of our Cross Solutions Training Program. This is a 18 month rotational training program where the Analyst will work across our Professional Services Solutions to have exposure to various technologies and industries so they can determine the long term career path they want to pursue. This role is not focused on IT software, but is focused on IT physical infrastructure design and build out

These work assignments will be a mix of IT analysis and documentation, IT equipment physical installation, and both IT and physical layer troubleshooting. Some of the projects and tasks will include:

Data Center Design and Build: Learn about the Design and Fit Out of the White Space of a Data Center. This will include managing cabling installation, budgeting, coordinating vendors and physical layer troubleshooting.

Data Center Migrations and Cloud: Learn about Data Center Optimization and Cloud Migration. This will include inventory of the physical assets in a data center, installation of physical data center equipment, and physical layer troubleshooting.  

Workplace Technology: Learn about IT Infrastructure Transformation in the modern workplace. Our work encompasses low voltage and fiber cable design, AV design and integration services, physical security design, integration, and advisory, design, integration and support for data networking and Wi-Fi. This will include IT Construction Project Management, AV installation, physical security and access control solution installation and Wi-Fi installation. 

Ideal candidates will be recent graduates with either an engineering or IT degree. You who will work with great teams, gain valuable experience, and develop the skills to grow into an IT Infrastructure Project Manager. Candidates must be hands on, mechanically inclined, technically savvy, and familiar with IT Infrastructure concepts. This role will be a combination of hands-on project coordination and physical IT equipment installation.  This should be a hands-on individual with strong communication and organizational skills that is aspiring to start their career path to being an IT Infrastructure Project Manager. 
 
This Person will: 

  • Perform hands-on equipment and IT infrastructure installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of physical IT components and equipment including: Wi-Fi, Physical Security Solutions, Audio Visual (AV), servers, network equipment and structured cabling
  • Assist with project management tasks through all aspects of project including meetings, scheduling, task coordination, vendor management, communications, and documentation 

Position Details: 

  • The Project Analyst will be based in our New York City office; however, this person will be required to travel to and work at client locations in the New York Metropolitan area or other domestic locations as needed. This person should expect to be onsite 5 days a week as needed, travel up to 70 percent for data center related projects, and work nights and weekends as required (often IT work is performed outside of business hours)
  • This is a full-time position offering a salary in the $55K to $80K range (based on experience), comprehensive benefits, paid training, additional compensation 

Responsibilities 

  • Work with project managers to help support the successful delivery of our professional services solutions including hands-on IT equipment installation, troubleshooting, documentation, communication and coordinating project tasks  
  • Leverage strong writing, analytical and MS Office documentation skills to create professional documentation in support of the pre-sales process
  • Perform various administrative and follow up tasks to support the project managers
  • Complete various tasks, physical installation, technology configuration, and project coordination duties related to all aspects of workplace technology, data center migration, or data center white space fit out
  • Hands on responsibilities will include pulling cable, rack and stack equipment in the data center, and the installation of IP Cameras, Sensors, Monitors, and IoT devices related Integrated Physical Security/Access Control, AV, Smart Office, and Workplace Management systems
  • Responsible for learning and working alongside Project Managers on all levels of an engagement, including proposal development, client administration, scheduling, attending meetings, documenting follow up, tracking tasks, and overseeing deliverables 
  • Perform various tasks related back-end project support including purchasing - ordering and tracking delivery of equipment and materials required for project and ensuring these materials are documented and billed back to the customer 
  • Leverage MS Office skills to gather information and produce professional documentation, and contribute to senior management-level presentations to our clients 
  • Work with project manager(s) to administer and document project work: Scope, charter, project plans, meeting agendas and minutes, RAID logs, and other project tools 
  • Attend meetings with PMs where we act as a technology representative at client construction meetings as well as internal project team affiliates including IT and Facilities, etc. 
  • Develop the project management skills and learn to manage overall engagement profitability, revenue, margins, utilization goals, pricing, and contract administration  

 Qualifications 

We seek a recent college graduate with the aptitude and interest to grow into an IT Infrastructure Project Manager. The required attributes include being mechanically inclined, hands-on, passionate about technology, a good communicator, and the ability to learn quickly.  

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or an IT-related field required 
  • Be hands-on and mechanically inclined to physically install IT Hardware, Security Devices, AV equipment, and Data Center equipment 
  • Be technically savvy to understand how to configure, integrate and troubleshoot these technology solutions 
  • Have a outgoing personality and an interest in developing business development skills - be able to build rapport with clients and industry partners
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to help with detailed analysis for negotiating, estimating and job costing
  • Any relevant industry experience Data Center, Cloud or Workplace Technology (physical security and access control solutions, Wi-Fi, or Networking) would be an advantage
  • Possess strong communication and organizational skills to help with project coordination and client interaction 
  • Have MS Office skills including Word, PPT and Excel to create visually engaging, professional, client-facing documentation and presentations 
  • Any relevant internship or work experience related to data centers or workplace technology implementation, construction or physical installation of IT or AV equipment would be a plus  
  • Any familiarity with data center operations or build out
  • Excellent conceptualization, articulation, presentation, and facilitation skills are required 
  • Have a strong desire to learn and grow in multiple project related disciplines
