What is the opportunity?

The incumbent ensures that Personal Banking & Commercial Banking (PB&CB) maintain an effective regulatory compliance program, aligned with RBC’s strategic objectives and risk appetite. As the FATCA/CRS Product Owner - Reporting, they act as the First Line of Defense (1LOD), assuming ownership and accountability for risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and regulatory reporting. Responsibilities include identifying and closing regulatory gaps, instigating necessary change management actions, and serving as the liaison between Business, Functional, and IT teams. In this role, they elicit, analyze, communicate, and validate requirements to address regulatory or compliance gaps.

What will you do?

  • Lead reporting initiatives and execute critical activities, including project management and stakeholder engagement, maintain comprehensive regulatory policy documentation and support the Operations Process Optimization (OPO) partners in end- to-end workflow management.

  • Act as Product Owner and Subject Matter Expert to lead the strategic development and execution of large, complex regulatory projects (i.e. FATCA, Common Reporting Standards, etc.) and identify and address regulatory changes impacting line-of-business (LOB) processes, policies, systems, and reporting.

  • Develop and maintain regulatory resources (e.g., website content, tools, job aids, raining materials) and ensure timely revision /publication of Regulatory Strategy & Delivery policies and guidelines.

  • Ensure controls over FATCA/CRS reporting and manage reporting processes, including multi-level reviews, approvals, and sign-offs, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  • Represent the business in engagements with regulatory bodies (e.g., CRA) for reporting, inquiries, audits, and correspondence.

  • Collaborate with 2LOD partners to monitor regulatory changes via horizon scanning, third party subscriptions, regulator websites, GTIR website, etc., ensuring proactive compliance.

  • Support IT and operational partners in updating systems, workflows, and controls to address regulatory changes, including application resiliency and process optimization.

  • Drive process improvements by collaborating with functional and product teams to challenge redundant policies, embed regulatory requirements into client-facing tools, and establish monitoring to track operational and tactical risks to meet evolving regulatory pressures.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:

  • 2–4 years of relevant experience.

  • University degree or equivalent business experience.

  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills, with superior problem-solving abilities.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong partner relationships, including negotiation skills to drive solutions.

  • Capacity to work effectively under tight timelines, coupled with strong organizational skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Regulatory knowledge and experience.

  • Organizational awareness relevant to risk identification and assessment for PB&CB LOB’s, enabling leadership of complex regulatory initiatives and associated change management actions.
