Job Summary:

Everest Reinsurance, a member of the Everest Re Group, is seeking an AVP, Underwriting Operations to join the Corporate Underwriting Team.

The successful candidate must have the ability to operate across a wide range of functional areas including knowledge in commercial P&C reinsurance underwriting operations, financial analysis, data analytics, and technical systems implementation, with experience engaging and leading cross functional teams.   In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication, presentation, and project management skills and have a natural affinity toward continuous learning and self-development.

This is a hybrid position working 3 days onsite, 2 remote in our Warren, NJ office.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Operational Effectiveness and Controls

    • Helping to identify and develop areas of efficiency improvement in reinsurance processes

    • Contributing to all requirements, design, and review sessions

    • Providing the business perspective for all day-to-day solution development decisions

    • Communicating with business units, involving them as needed and getting their buy-in

    • Provide day-to-day assurance that the solution is developing correctly

    • Organizing and controlling business acceptance testing of the solution

    • Taking responsibility for the creation of the business user and support documentation for the ultimate solution

    • Providing general business communications around processes and systems for both new and existing employees

  • Manage & support Reinsurance Applications & Backlogs

    • Management of the reinsurance applications and technological initiatives

    • Working closely with the business and technology, with support as needed from the senior management to define and prioritize features and stories, ensuring alignment with organizational

    • Owning and maintaining the product backlog (defects & enhancements) and is accountable for its contents and prioritization. Accountable for clear, actionable user stories

    • Identifying and classifying the impact of change on business units and communicating with the business units.

    • Analyzing and documenting of all updates within the reinsurance applications system.  As well as the creation and documentation of all business requirements for enhancements to products and functionalities within the Reinsurance system

    • Overseeing Development Stages and coordinating with Technology services - UAT resources

    • Maintaining and improving knowledge sharing and collaboration between the business and IT, by developing training material, knowledge base and working sessions to enhance cross team awareness of the core underwriting process as well as the needs and priorities of the different groups (i.e., contract wording, pricing, referral, FOT, bind, and advice review)

    • Managing Security on applications together with Technology services

Qualifications, Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years direct experience with agile teams, as well as 7 years in business, technology, or consulting

  • Bachelor's degree, or higher and insurance certifications, or equivalent experience

  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies

  • Knowledge of Reinsurance either as an Underwriter or Technical Assistant

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; e-learning software is an asset

  • Teams & SharePoint site expert

The base salary range for this position is $175,000 - $215,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
