POSITION OVERVIEW
The Assistant Kitchen Manager is responsible for supporting the Kitchen Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen. The Assistant Manager helps in managing staff, inventory, and compliance with health and safety regulations. This position requires you to be able to cover all positions at any given time. The position works alongside the Food Service Team to ensure that food quality standards, inventory levels, food safety guidelines and customer service expectations are met.

Ability to work in a multifaceted role that requires you to change roles as needed day to day from food service worker, cook, cashier and manager.
Monitor inventory usage and report discrepancies to the Kitchen Manager.
Assist in managing inventory levels, including ordering and receiving food and supplies.
Ensure that meals are prepared and served according to the planned menu, taking into account any special dietary needs or restrictions.
Ability to perform all duties in the kitchen as it pertains to every role.
Support the Kitchen Team as needed, to ensure all opening and closing tasks are completed.
Ability to work under minimal supervision.
May assist with the operational oversight and training as needed.
Assists in the day-to-day activities of the site kitchen, which includes preparing, serving, and replenishing food and drink.
Assists in preparing and cooking foods, which may include: panning frozen food; cupping fruit; washing and bagging fruits and vegetables; baking foods; chopping salad items; monitoring food temperatures; preparing sandwiches; removing hot items from ovens; and/or performing other related activities.
Set up and stock work areas with all necessary ingredients and equipment
Serves and replenishes food supply as needed.
Ensure that meals are prepared and served according to the planned menu, taking into account any special dietary needs or restrictions.
Monitor inventory levels, order food and supply items at appropriate times, ensure food and supplies are rotated and stored in a safe and sanitary location.
May be required to order and receive food products.
Verify and monitor HACCP procedures including temperature, sanitizer and storage logs.
Maintain courteous, respectful relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Know and comply with all company policies and procedures regarding safety, security, emergencies and energy.
Be flexible with performing other duties relating to general job functions as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or Principal.
Perform related work as required.
Work closely with school administrators, parents, and children to resolve issues; communicate procedures and policies, and provide customer service to all cafeteria users.
Assist with supervision of all kitchen team members.
Participate in meetings and training sessions as needed.
Perform all other duties of a similar nature or level.

Work Schedule:
10 month or school year round employee
40 hours a week
Hours: 6:30AM-3:00PM, including a 30 minute lunch
Education, Licensure, or Certification
High School Diploma/GED required
ServSafe Manager Certification or Certified Food Protection Manager certification from the county
Work Experience or Related Experience
Four years of food handling service/preparation experience
Two years of lead/supervisory experience
Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ensuring that all Food Service Employees are properly monitoring control measures and Critical Control Points (CCPs) at the required frequency and are documenting required records.
Monitoring the overall performance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to include food temping, hand washing, sanitizing buckets, etc.
Monitoring is a constant consideration. Implementing and enforcing policies and procedures.
Professional appearance per the employee handbook.
Cooking/Prepping/Serving meals as required and necessary.
Operating all kitchen equipment.
Providing training to kitchen staff in all aspects of food service operations including operation of kitchen equipment.
Assigning job responsibilities and developing work schedules with approval of your Principal and Regional Food Service Manager.
Maintains a cooperative relationship with school administration.
Prepare daily production sheets.
Place weekly orders with the food supplier on designated days; check in order after delivery, follow all processes as set in place by the district.
Assure team is working together to prep menu items and keep the kitchen clean and orderly throughout the day.
Operates the cash register/POS system/Daily Reconciliation – closing out end of day.
Implements financial controls to maintain profitability.
Accounts for all funds and handles as required.
Takes daily deposits to the front office for deposit as per district policy.
Handles and delivers food orders for Food Service sponsored catering events (Patriot’s Day, Veteran’s Day, Volunteer Breakfast).
Helps provide meals for LKC and/or Preschool during Fall/Winter/Spring/Summer Break - if requested.
Weekly & Monthly Inventory.
Organize/manage all storage areas of the kitchen, including dry storage, freezer, coolers, and office areas.
Assure employees fill out all necessary HR & Payroll paperwork per policy.
Attend campus staff meetings, special functions and in-services as required.
Lead the kitchen team in completing mandatory deep cleaning of kitchen 4 times a year.
The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check
Must be able to obtain and hold a valid IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at all times.
Positions in this classification typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, sitting, finger or manual dexterity, repetitive finger motion, speaking, hearing, seeing (with correction), focusing ability, or other factors applicable for job.
Employee must be able to stand and walk constantly on various floor surfaces while performing various duties, including but not limited to using push/pull force of up to 100 pounds for various machines.
Employee must stand constantly and walk frequently lifting items of various sizes, up to 50 pounds. Items over 50 pounds require a second staff member to lift.
Employee may rarely be required to climb ladders to perform various cleaning or maintenance tasks.
Employees may be subject to travel, fumes, odors, chemicals, blood borne pathogens, workspace restrictions, and loud noises.
