Northrop Grumman Marine Systems specializes in the development, manufacture, assembly and testing of missile launching and handling systems, propulsion, and power generation systems for naval surface ships and submarines. We are seeking a Program Director to join our Launcher Systems Operating Unit. The nature of this position require that this position be located in Sunnyvale, CA and have the capacity for on-site work.

The Program Director has full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility for the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) product line within the Launcher Systems Operating Unit, reporting within the Marine Systems Business Unit. In addition to P&L responsibility, the Program Director is directly responsible for maintaining customer relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and long term viability of the product line.  The CPS Program Director will establish a strong working relationship with their customer counterpart, to ensure successful delivery of products and support of the fielded design. The CPS Program Director will also provide portfolio performance briefings up through the Mission Systems Sector President as required.

This position reports to the Launcher Systems Operating Unit Senior Director and includes responsibility for personnel, work scope, and infrastructure at sites throughout the US including Cape Canaveral, FL.

The successful candidate will balance direct action with organizational leadership and collaborate across functional organizations to enable accomplishment of CPS objectives. They will create strong partnerships with the customer to develop new solutions that meet mission needs, while creating strategic value for the Operating Unit.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 10 years of experience in technical, programmatic or manufacturing position or Master’s with 8 years of experience in technical, programmatic or manufacturing position
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Active DoW Secret security clearance and ability to obtain Top Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in:
    • Developing and delivering executive level briefings
    • Managing development or production programs
    • Cultural leadership embracing Northrop Grumman’s Leadership Values
    • Direct action resulting in tangible outcomes
    • Sustained performance with large government programs across a broad range of customers and contract vehicles
    • Program management and control, including the following business processes, tools, and contractual provisions:
      • Earned Value Management System
      • Integrated Master Schedules
      • Risk and Opportunity Management
      • Financial Forecasting
      • Estimate at Complete
      • Request for Equitable Adjustment
      • Build-To-Print
      • Fixed Price, Cost Plus, and Incentive Contracts
  • Franchise program proposal and capture experience
  • Experience in proposal management and negotiations
  • Knowledge & experience of naval weapons systems and at least 15 years of Defense experience and strong customer domain knowledge

Primary Level Salary Range: $224,300.00 - $336,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
