Position Summary...
What you'll do...
A commercial journeyman plumber performs installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems in commercial, industrial, and sometimes residential settings. Work includes reading blueprints, troubleshooting plumbing issues, ensuring compliance with codes, and providing customer service for repair calls.
Primary Job Duties and Tasks
Installation -
Install, repair, and maintain pipes, fixtures, and plumbing systems in commercial buildings (offices, schools, hospitals, restaurants, etc.).

Install water supply lines, drainage systems, gas lines, and waste disposal systems.

Assemble, install, and test plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, urinals, faucets, water heaters, and pumps.

Connect appliances like dishwashers, ice makers, and boilers to water supply lines.

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout of plumbing systems.
Service & Repair -
Diagnose and troubleshoot leaks, clogs, pressure issues, and faulty fixtures.

Repair or replace valves, fittings, and pipes.

Clear drains and sewer lines using hand tools, augers, and hydro-jetting equipment.

Test and inspect backflow prevention devices and repair or replace as needed.

Respond to emergency service calls and perform on-the-spot repairs.
Maintenance -
Conduct routine preventive maintenance on plumbing systems to ensure reliability and compliance.

Inspect plumbing and drainage systems for code compliance and functionality.

Flush water heaters, test pressure, and check for leaks or corrosion.

Maintain and repair sump pumps and booster pumps.
Compliance & Safety -
Follow all local, state, and national plumbing codes.

Ensure installations meet safety and environmental regulations.

Maintain a clean and safe work environment, using proper PPE.

Complete necessary permits, inspections, and reports.
Tools & Equipment -
Operate power tools and specialized plumbing equipment: pipe threaders, soldering torches, cutting machines, and leak detectors.

Use measuring instruments to ensure accurate pipe alignment and connections.

Maintain and organize tools, materials, and work vehicle.
Communication & Coordination -
Communicate with contractors, engineers, building managers, and clients.

Provide estimates for repair or installation jobs.

Document work performed, materials used, and time spent.

Train or assist apprentice plumbers.

The hourly wage range for this position is $19.00 - $35.00*
*The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.
Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...

Valid Driver's License.
