Job Summary

As a Welder II at Vermeer, you’ll apply your welding skills across multiple areas, mentor others, and help drive quality and productivity. What You’ll Do

1. Complete weldments in various positions according to blueprints and welding procedure specifications using Gas Metal Arc Welding – Pulsed (GMAW-P) and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), following Vermeer Welding Standards and American Welding Society (AWS) D14.0 requirements.

2. Position, align, and fit components using fixtures; bolt, clamp, and tack weld parts to secure them for final welding.

3. Set and operate an oxyfuel cutting (OFC) torch for preheating safely and efficiently.

4. Perform regular and routine maintenance on welding equipment.

5. Support 5S and workplace organization goals by maintaining a clean and efficient work area and contribute to continuous improvement and department performance metrics.

6. Mentor and help train new welders, sharing best practices and supporting team development.

7. Perform rework and repairs as needed to maintain product quality.

What We’re Looking For

- Minimum of one year Vermeer welding experience or three years of welding fabrication experience; completion of a formal weld training program (technical school, apprenticeship, or equivalent) is preferred and may be considered in combination with professional experience.

- Complete and maintain American Welding Society (AWS) Gas Metal Arc Welding – Pulsed (GMAW-P) certification to the D14.0 standard with qualification in the 1G-UL position, with willingness to learn and qualify in Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) for vertical fillet (3F) and overhead fillet (4F) positions.

- Achieve a minimum of three Vermeer weld audit scores at or above 90%, and complete Vermeer Level II/III Welder Assessment with a score at or above 80% as applicable.

- Crosstrain in a minimum of three Vermeer welding areas.

- Proficiency in reading blueprints, interpreting welding symbols, applying decimal-based measurements for precision and quality, and accessing and interpreting digital work instructions and drawings using computer systems.

- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and the ability to assess and carry out appropriate actions in multiple situations.

- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with individuals at all levels of the organization.

Work Location

ONSITE: A team member’s day-to-day work is best done on a Vermeer campus. If work content can be occasionally completed at an offsite location, discuss potential arrangements with your manager.
