Senior Manager, Strategic Sourcing & Commodity Management

Job Description

About the Role:

Brooks is a prominent leader in the semiconductor industry, known for our innovative technology and sustainable solutions. As part of our strategic expansion in Malaysia, we are seeking an experienced Senior Strategic Sourcing & Commodity Management Manager (SSCM) to lead the Strategic Sourcing and Commodity team, as well as identify and manage the newly identified suppliers to support Brooks business.

The SSCM will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for key commodities, ensuring supply continuity, driving cost optimisation and managing supplier relationships globally. This role leads cross-functional initiatives, evaluates market trends, and ensures that procurement strategies align with business goals, quality expectations, and long-term operational requirements.

Work Location: Onsite - Pasir Gudang, Johor Bahru.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Sourcing & Costs Management

  • Develop and implement long-term sourcing strategies for assigned commodities.
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives through negotiations, value engineering, supplier consolidation, and total cost of ownership) TCO) analysis.
  • Conduct market intelligence assessments, benchmarking, and supplier competitiveness studies.
  • Identify risks and develop contingency plans to ensure supply continuity

Supplier Relationship & Performance Management

  • Select, evaluate, and qualify suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and technical capability.
  • Manage strategic supplier partnerships, including quarterly business reviews and performance scorecards.
  • Drive supplier development initiatives to improve capability, cost structure, and operational performance.
  • Support resolution of supplier‑related quality, delivery, or compliance issues.

Contract Negotiation Management

  • Lead contract negotiations including pricing, terms and conditions, service levels, and long‑term supply agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate procurement policies, contractual standards, and ethical sourcing requirements.
  • Maintain and update master supply agreements and commodity contracts.

Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Program Management on new product introductions (NPI) and product cost optimization.
  • Support demand forecasting, inventory planning, and risk mitigation with Planning teams.
  • Participate in make vs buy analysis and supplier transitions.

Commodity Strategy & Market Analysis

  • Build annual commodity strategies based on global market dynamics, geopolitical risk, raw material cost trends, and supply chain conditions.
  • Analyze commodity index trends and recommend sourcing decisions accordingly.
  • Maintain market outlook reports to support business planning.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure suppliers comply with regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, REACH, RoHS, conflict minerals, sustainability programs).
  • Promote ethical sourcing and ESG initiatives within the supplier ecosystem.

Any other duties or projects assigned.

Qualifications & Competencies:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering or other related field
  • Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g. CPM, CPSM, APICS) is an advantage

Experience

  • 10-12 years of experience in procurement, category management, commodity management, or strategic Sourcing roles
  • Experience in managing global suppliers and commodity categories (electronics, metals, Plastics, mechanicals, Chemicals, etc.
  • Proven track record in cost savings, supplier negotiations, and sourcing strategy development
