Our Trading team in Calgary is looking for a team player with strong analytical skills combined with the ability to summarize data and extract a concise message. We’re looking for a new team member with exceptional critical thinking skills to support the Canadian and US crude oil desks in measuring and valuing trading exposures and performance.Minimum Requirements:
Three to five years of relevant experience, preferably in a commodity-based trading environment
A post-secondary education in business, finance, computer science, accounting or engineering
Knowledge of data mining, modeling and data analysis
Thoroughness and accuracy through attentiveness to detail
Experience with cloud services such as Azure, managing SQL Databases, Virtual Machines and Docker
A solid understanding of ETL processes and best practices
Experience with CTRMs, particularly CXL is an asset
Knowledge of North America physical crude oil markets and logistics an asset
Responsibilities:
Support the trade desk in providing timely and accurate valuations for physical and financial trades and summarize the performance of the desk.
Monitor and manage inventory and blending activities within the CTRM through accrual to actual cycles to ensure accurate measurement and valuation of in-transit and static inventories.
Prepare management reporting for functional leaders and provide commentary on trading strategy performance and value drivers.
Support the Trading Analytics team in conducting analytics with large datasets using SQL, Python, R and Docker in the context of a commodity trading environment.
Architect data flows, build out data pipelines and implement complex analytics while ensuring the highest standard of data integrity.
Utilize experience with cloud services such as Azure, to manage SQL Databases, Virtual Machines and deploying data analytics applications.
Demonstrate a holistic understanding of data modelling approaches, from ETL through visualization, with an eye toward automation.
Collaborate with internal traders and analysts across geographies within crude and refined products trading to effectively visualize and organize data through dashboards, charts and reports.
Location and other Key Details:
This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs.
