Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented person to support RVCO’s Regional Optimization efforts. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and can collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. This role will be a data steward for the RVCO’s Planning and DPO models. They will build and provide analytics to tell the data story, assist with meeting preparation for leadership, and support the RVCO’s Regional Optimization project. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in forming the structure of the desk as it is new. Your insights will drive informed decision-making and strategic planning within Marathon’s Regional operations.  This role is a great opportunity to learn about refinery operations and MPC’s Clean Products network and how we optimize our business.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts detailed analysis of refinery and clean products network data, identifying trends and discrepancies in performance and pricing, using various tools to generate insights that inform and guide business decisions.
  • Manages and ensures the accuracy of Backcast data and supporting files. Data includes yield volumes, inventory, clean products demand and pricing.
  • Assists in the development of presentations for key meeting with leadership, working closely with business unit contacts.
  • Develops reports or tools to support analytics and monitor KPIs providing insights into performance vs expectations to Value Chain leadership.
  • Collaborates with RVCO team and participates in meetings to understand their analytical and reporting needs to support ongoing improvement.
  • Actively seeks and implements ways to enhance processes, systems, or automation to provide more time for in-depth analysis and commentary.
  • RO Projects: Supports Regional Optimization project and initiatives by assisting with business requirements and testing solutions.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline required.
  • Six (6) years in Accounting, Finance, Commercial, or related field.
  • General understanding of operations systems such as MIPS, MPR, RightAngle and Planning Database is preferred.
  • Experience with Alteryx, SQL and Power BI preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum undergraduate degree Business, Finance, or Accounting required.
• Six (6) years in Accounting, Finance, or related field
