Job Description

  • Role Summary: We are looking for a Senior Project Manager who is able to assume full ownership of the project of ramping up our sales team and drive it to successful completion.

  • Ideal Candidate: The ideal applicant should be a natural problem solver with proven past experience with setting up and/or running Sales Operations at scale in North America.

  • Role Objectives: This position is to extend beyond traditional Project Management duties; you shall be deeply involved in Operational and Strategic aspects of the Project, including but not limited to:

    • Design, Implementation and Improvement of Hiring, Training and Termination Processes;

    • Design of KPIs and Monitoring of Performance;

    • Design & Implementation of day-to-day incentive program for Sales Agents;

    • Assuring the cooperation among various departments (Talent Acquisition, Sales, HR, Sales Operations, Finance) and also various levels within each department.

    • Organizing of Social Events;

    • Monitoring & Reporting Project Costs;

    • Organizing and managing daily stands-ups in our Chicago HQ

    • Regular Reporting and Escalation to Senior Leadership;

    • Ad-hoc activities pertaining to day-to-day management of the Project.
       

  • Project Scope

    • People: The Project will involve processing hundreds of applicants through the recruitment process over the next 9 months. 

    • Exposure: There will be heavy exposure to the CEO, SVP for Sales, CFO, and COO and.

    • Budget: There is a multi million dollar budget to cover the project for the next 9 months. 

Key Responsibilities

Project Management of all aspects of the above mentioned project, such as:

  • Hiring: Develop and implement a comprehensive hiring strategy to recruit top talent for the sales department expansion. This includes creating job descriptions, conducting interviews, and selecting candidates who align with Groupon’s values and goals. Ensure constant improvement of hiring strategy based on performance of real hires.

  • Onboarding: Design and execute an effective onboarding process to ensure new hires are well-integrated into the company culture and are equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to succeed.

  • Training: Develop and oversee a robust training program focused on sales techniques, product knowledge, and customer engagement strategies to ensure the team is highly skilled and motivated.

  • Performance Monitoring & Analysis: Establish and monitor performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of the sales team. Provide data-driven recommendations on how to improve the underlying processes.

  • Terminations & Promotions: Make informed decisions regarding employee retention, including identifying high performers for promotion and addressing underperformance through coaching or termination when necessary.

  • Operational & Senior Leadership Reporting: Prepare and present detailed reports on project progress, sales performance, and operational metrics to senior leadership. Ensure transparency and alignment with organizational goals.

  • Active Problem Solving: Proactively identify and address challenges that arise during the project. Develop and implement solutions to ensure project milestones are met and objectives are achieved.

  • Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment by maintaining excellent working relationships with colleagues across various departments. Ensure open communication and teamwork to support project success.

Requirements

  • Work Experience: +5 years experience in setting up or operating Sales Operations in North America in Performance Driven industries (Multi Level Marketing, Active Telemarketing or Franchise Based Business focus on the sales function).

  • Environment: Ability to thrive in a high pressure, performance driven environment. 

  • Extreme Ownership & Bias for Action: You need to take full ownership of the project and show high degree of proactivity on a daily basis.

  • Problem Solving: You need to be a natural problem solver.

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to define, monitor and analyze KPIs and operational metrics. 

  • Structured Personality: To be naturally extremely well-organized and structured; eagerness to extensively work with Asana.

  • Process Orientation: Ability to design, maintain and improve robust, yet simple operational processes.
