Your technical expertise and leadership will guide the team in addressing complex challenges while ensuring scalability, security, and reliability in all deliverables.

While the Payment Domain is part of the Business Banking unit, its reach extends to every part of the Bank. The team consists of engineers and technology leaders with a diverse set of skills to support this transformation. The team is also responsible for driving Engineering Governance, Continuous Delivery, and key technological simplification initiatives such as Cloud and Payments Event-based architecture

In this role  

As a Chapter Lead, you’ll lead a team of engineers designing and building payments systems and services, while remaining hands-on with the code. You will be leading with a purpose in recruiting, retaining, and developing top engineering talent while promoting psychological safety, autonomy, and mastery. 

 Here, you will be aligning your chapter’s goals with our ambition to become a global leader in Agentic and Gen AI at scale.

You'll design solutions for complex challenges within a business unit, with a strong focus on security from the first line of code. You'll also encourage others to enhance their engineering skills while building top-tier applications.

Key responsibilities will also include:  

• Create structured, recurring opportunities for engineers to learn, collaborate, and build capability especially in AI Powered Engineering. 
• Set and monitor individual development plans focused across the Full Cycle Engineering Job Framework. 
• Role model the use of Gen AI tooling, encourage experimentation, and remove fear or uncertainty around AI’s impact. 
• Foster a mindset of growth and learning through social forums like Chapter Time and Hackathons. 
• Build a high-performing chapter by attracting top talent and supporting their career development through structured learning pathways. 
• Use available metrics to track progress, identify gaps, and provide targeted support to accelerate capability uplift.

• Security: Vault, Security Management, Parameter Store, AWS Certificate Manager, AWS Secrets Manager
• Design skills
• Testing: TDD, BDD, Automation Framework
• System Design: Tech debt, data-intensive applications, database design, API design, microservices, event-driven and serverless architecture
• Engineering: Deployment methodologies, SRE
• Payments: NPP, SWIFT, BIAN- Desirable
• AI: AI in engineering (e.g., Cline, CoPilot), RAG, MCP, Gen-AI, Agentic-AI, machine learning
• Certifications (preferrable) - AWS: AWS Solutions Architect and DevOps Engineer Professional; AI: AWS AI Practitioner and Machine Learning Specialty
