Due to significant contract wins over the last 12 months with our amazing customers, we are excited to announce this brand-new role of Marketing & Communications Officer to support our growing organisation. We want to share the great work that Aquarius has been doing, building on over 40 years of service in Birmingham in the substance misuse and support space.
Aquarius already has a strong reputation locally through word of mouth and relationship building but we’ve been keeping it to ourselves for too long! It’s time to take a more strategic view with our communications around social media and we need some specialist help to do that.
It’s a genuine opportunity for a highly motivated and talented individual to help shape this new strategy, with access to senior leadership within the organisation and working closely with our parent company Humankind – we have the resources and vision to do something special. That’s where you come in.
To succeed you’ll either have a media and communications qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or above) or experience of working in media, communications or marketing. You’ll be used to using social media in a professional context and be familiar with content management systems. It goes without saying that you’re organised, can work independently and as part of a team and have the confidence to present and promote Aquarius to stakeholders at all levels.
For those who get through to interview, you’ll notice something different about those you meet during the process – we are a values driven organisation and we look to live it in all our interactions – so expect people to be attentive, kind and very passionate about empowering those who could do with a bit of support to thrive. This is what it’s all about for us. If this sounds like you and you have the background and skills to succeed in this role with a supportive and positive employer, what are you waiting for? We want to hear from you.
This is a permanent full-time role requiring the post holder to work 37 hours per week.

We are committed to increasing our diversity and we would welcome applications from those with lived experience and/or who are from a BAME background.
This is a rolling recruitment process. Candidates will be interviewed as and when they are shortlisted.
To apply please submit a CV and supporting statement which should clearly outline your skills and experience.
Aquarius was a subsidiary of Richmond Fellowship, with both organisations being part of Recovery Focus, a national group of charities highly experienced in providing specialist support services to individuals and families living with the effects of mental ill health, drug and alcohol use, gambling and domestic violence. On 1st June 2024 Richmond Fellowship merged with Humankind to form a single organisation that provides the joined-up mental health, housing and drug and alcohol support we’ve all known has been needed for decades. At the same time, Aquarius became a subsidiary of Humankind, with no impact to terms and conditions of employment. In October 2024, Humankind will be renamed to reflect the new organisation, of which Aquarius will remain a subsidiary.
