About the role

We are looking for a seasoned and experienced insurance carrier executive to lead Coalition’s fast growing private company Executive Risks / Management Liability business unit. This individual will have leadership responsibilities over creating new insurance products, accelerating growth of existing products, achieving loss ratio and profitability targets, establishing and managing senior level relationships with brokers and channel partners, and cultivating and building relationships with carrier partners. The Head of Executive Risks must be well versed in building profitable books of business, managing small to large sized production-oriented teams, claims, and sales teams. The person in this role will be part of Coalition’s insurance leadership team and be expected to be a subject matter expert as well as operate at an executive level.

This is a fully remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Accelerate growth of Executive Risks lines; current products private and not-for-profit D&O, EPL, Crime, and Fiduciary lines
  • Lead and mentor a national, remote team of underwriters, salespeople, and associated support functions
  • Work closely with technology (product and engineering), broader Coalition sales organization, claims, and other insurance functions to build, maintain, and grow premium
  • Develop and manage new senior level relationships with brokers and channel partners; in-person travel to key strategic relationships is expected
  • Manage existing broker and channel partner relationships alongside cyber counterparts
  • Build and maintain carrier / capacity relationships in new and existing MGA and reinsurance programs
  • Ensure consistent underwriting and building a profitable book of business
  • Manage quarterly and annual budgeting and targets
  • Create, manage, and design organizational growth model to allow Executive Risks to scale from current levels to a $500M+ premium business
  • Exhibit a thorough understanding of the Executive Risks marketplace and trends, Coalition’s capabilities, and corporate vision
  • Represent Coalition at an executive level at industry events and conferences

Skills and Qualifications

  • 10+ years of Executive Risks underwriting and leadership experience (private and public companies)
  • Demonstrated track record of success in building teams and growing premium at accelerated pace to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual goals
  • Prior experience in managing and/or working cross functionally across small to large insurance teams (underwriting, sales, claims, actuarial, etc.)
  • Strong sales, communication and marketing skills are critical; must be able to demonstrate success with managing tight time frames and 
  • Deep understanding of Executive Risks markets and trends including coverage, underwriting, and segmented loss history
  • Negotiation, relationship-building, and influencing skills, and a creative approach to challenges and opportunities
  • 4-year college degree preferred

Compensation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The US base salary for this position ranges from $250,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $350,000/year in our highest geographic market. Consistent with applicable laws, an employee's pay within this range is based on a number of factors, which include but are not limited to relevant education, skills, job-related knowledge, qualifications, work experience, credentials, and/or geographic location.
