The opportunity: 

 

Join our Reporting and Capital team as a Senior Accountant, where you will play a pivotal role in a growing organisation. This position offers excellent exposure and a wealth of opportunities for professional development. What you’ll be doing: 

 

Produce UK GAAP Financial Statements: Responsible for the accurate production of UK GAAP financial statements, ensuring comprehensive provision of information for the audit process, including reconciliations and samples. Ensure timely sign-off of financial statements within agreed timelines. 

 

Solvency II Reporting: Assist in the preparation of annual Solvency II returns for Markel International Insurance Company Ltd (MIICL) and Syndicate 3000, as well as quarterly Solvency II reporting for MIICL. 

 

Regulatory Returns Management: Take ownership of the preparation and submission of various regulatory returns, ensuring adherence to deadlines and maintaining a high standard of work. 

 

Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Support the quarterly balance sheet reconciliation process. Prepare analysis packs for both consolidated and legal entity balance sheets. 

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise effectively with other business areas, including Actuarial, Legal and Compliance, Internal Audit, US Corporate Finance, and other members of the London Finance team. 

 

Our must-haves: 

  • Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent) with experience in insurance sector is essential for this role. 

  • Detailed knowledge and experience of UK Financial, Regulatory and preferably Solvency II reporting. 

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.  

  • A strong collaborative approach combined with the ability to work independently towards tight, internal and external timeframes.
