Role Definition:
Executes the the planning, coordinating, governing and reporting procurements participation in the NPI process.

Responsibilities
•    Providing leadership for the NPI activities within procurement, including select sources taken from the category strategies and resource management decisions.
•    Monitoring and reporting NPI progress, holding NPI & design teams accountable for meeting quality and timeliness of requirements, and to assist the product group in managing procurement related capital. 
•    Working closely with operations and product development in creating a supply chain for a new product.
•    Researching and assessing existing and potential suppliers; making recommendations on supplier selection.

New Product Development (NPD): Knowledge of methodology, processes, and strategies of new product development; ability to develop an effective new product development (NPD) strategy and process to generate a range of products, services, and value propositions aligned with the organization's overall marketing and business strategy.
 

 Level Working Knowledge: 
•    Analyzes and documents the performance of the organization's current portfolio of products, services, brands, and value propositions.
•    Assists in conducting business analysis of new products.
•    Implements a clear set of annual NPD priorities, based on the NPD strategy and the performance of the current product and service portfolio.
•    Researches key market and customer trends about competitor product offerings. 
•    Utilizes idea generation exercises across the business for the NPD process to achieve organizational buy-in.

Procurement: Knowledge of buying and procurement; ability to work with organizational strategies and practices, and use tools for buying goods, supplies, equipment and services needed to conduct business.
 Level Working Knowledge: 
•    Works with the procurement of services, materials or equipment.
•    Follows established procedures, documentation requirements and approval level requests to conduct procurement activities.
•    Interprets benefits, issues and considerations of using e-procurement.
•    Uses available procurement systems and tools in transactions with approved suppliers.
•    Assists in reviewing the fulfillment of administrative and documentation requirements for the completion of purchase.

Supplier Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.

 Level Working Knowledge: 
•    Follows procedures in carrying out routine supplier management tasks.
•    Uses electronic systems or tools to record/retrieve supplier information and carry out transactions with suppliers.
•    Resolves routine supplier issues; escalates non-routine issues up chain of command.
•    Researches alternative vendors or suppliers; participates in supplier selection.
•    Works with suppliers to ensure that purchases meet delivery date and quality specifications.
