Leidos is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support Weekend Shift operations at our Mechanical Manufacturing Facility (MMF). This role provides direct manufacturing engineering support to production while maintaining ownership of manufacturing processes, MBOM integrity, and MES process documentation.

This position operates in a high-mix, precision machining environment supporting complex defense programs and requires strong technical judgement, systems discipline, and the ability to lead and collaborate with Quality Engineering, CNC Programming, and Production teams to resolve manufacturing challenges while maintaining configuration control and process integrity.

This role supports the weekend shift (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 3x12 schedule = 6am-6pm)

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the manufacturing engineering support for production during assigned shift.

  • Ensure adherence to released work instructions, MBOM structures, and quality requirements.

  • Coordinate closely with shift supervision to prioritize engineering support.

  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering, CNC Programming, and Production to diagnose and resolve manufacturing issues and maintain production flow.

  • Support containment and participate in root cause corrective action (RCCA) activities.

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing processes, MBOMs, author and maintain MES process plans and detailed work instructions.

  • Drive process improvements focused on safety, quality, cost, and delivery.

  • Maintain disciplined configuration control and documentation accuracy within engineering and production systems.

  • When NC Programmer is unavailable, perform limited minor program edits in Siemens NX to prevent production disruption. Regenerate, simulate, and repost programs for validated minor adjustments; escalate major programming changes to day-shift leadership.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline.

  • 8+ years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience in a precision machining environment.

  • Experience supporting CNC machining environments (3-axis, 5-axis, mill-turn, or lathe operations).

  • Experience working within ERP and MES systems, managing MBOMs, and creating work instructions.

  • Strong understanding of GD&T and precision machining principles.

  • Strong attention to detail and configuration control discipline.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently in a production environment.

  • Applicant must be able to work a full-time, 3-days Friday, Saturday, Sunday 12-hours per shift, Weekend shift.  Regular attendance required.

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess or meet the eligibility to obtain (and be able to maintain) a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments.

  • Experience with Solumina MES, Costpoint ERP, and/or Windchill PLM.

  • Experience supporting complex 5-axis, mill-turn, or large-format machining.

  • Familiarity with Siemens NX CAM and machine simulation.

  • Experience with Solidworks.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $92,300.00 - $166,850.00
