Job Summary
Performs basic diagnostic ultrasound examinations as prescribed by the physician and documents findings. Assists physicians with invasive procedures as needed. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.
Essential Functions
- Obtains a complete and comprehensive patient history. Operates ultrasound equipment competently to provide quality diagnostic studies that meets the requirements of established ultrasound protocols.
- Performs various diagnostic ultrasound examinations as prescribed by the referring physician and/or radiologists so that they meet the requirements of established ultrasound protocols.
- Documents quality images, including pathology noted during real time scanning. As necessary, assists physicians during invasive procedures.
- Maintains a clean work environment and stocks rooms with supplies as needed. Contacts service personnel and notifies management of malfunctioning equipment.
- Supports objectives set by lead sonographer, imaging specialist, supervisor and manager. Assist imaging specialist / leadership in credentialing and competencies set forth by Spectrum Health and various regulatory agencies.
- Visual acuity to discriminate vascular doppler and flow studies. Have the vision equivalent and ability to to perform, evaluate & determine appropriate, normal & abnormal, diagnosis for ultrasound studies.
- Auditory capability to hear tone and pitch fluctuations such as that associated with doppler, vascular and cardiac studies.
- Assignments are routine; follows established protocols. Works under close supervision, seeks guidance where needed; requires some instruction on day-to-day work and resolves routine problems.
Qualifications
- Required Associate's Degree or equivalent years of experience in related field
- Preferred Bachelor's Degree
- CRT-Sonographer (S) - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Upon Hire required Or
- CRT-Abdomen (AB) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Excludes SHMG (OBGYN/MFM), and SHMG Vascular Upon Hire required And
- CRT-Ob/Gyn (OB) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Excludes SHMG Vascular and SHGR Breast Imaging Upon Hire required And
- CRT-Vascular Technologist (VT) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography SHGR, Regionals and SHMG Vascular Imaging; excludes SHMG (OBGYN/MFM) and SHGR Breast Imaging 1 Year required Or
- CRT-Vascular Sonographer (VS) - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist SHGR, Regionals and SHMG Vascular Imaging; excludes SHMG (OBGYN/MFM) and SHGR Breast Imaging 1 Year required And
- CRT-Breast Sonographer (BS) - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist WITHIN 1 YEAR Grand Rapids Breast Imaging; WITHIN 2 YEARS all regionals performing breast ultrasound 1 Year required Or
- CRT-Breast (BR) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography WITHIN 1 YEAR Grand Rapids Breast Imaging; WITHIN 2 YEARS all regionals performing breast ultrasound 1 Year required And
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
- CRT-Abdomen (AB) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Spectrum Health Lakeland Upon Hire required Or
