Job Title: Medical Assistant
Department: Lake Park Primary Care
Reports to: Office Manager
Job Summary: Assists providers and manages clinical functions in the department, Medical Terminology, Hard Working, multitasking, patient oriented. Medical Assistant with a minimum of 1 year experience. Preferred experience in primary care office but not required.

Essential Functions of the Position:
- Triage patient calls and needs
- Addresses and handles clinical tasks
- Returns messages left on the clinical voicemail
- Notifies patients of test results and instructions from provider
- Handles medication refill requests
- Schedules follow up appointments
- Provides patient education
- Takes and records vitals
- Updates IEHR (allergies, medications, history, etc.)
- Assists in following appointment schedule
- Prepares exam room
- Prepares patient for examination or treatment
- Obtains informed consents as necessary
- Notifies provider when patient is ready
- Assists provider during examination and with treatment
- Performs diagnostic studies and treatments as ordered by the provider
- Perform EKG’s as needed
- Perform Aorta scans as needed
- Administers injections and immunizations and records them in IEHR
- Obtains consents
- Assists traffic on phones
- Makes appointments
- Takes messages
- Assists with medication refill requests
- Handles customer requests or needs
- Directs calls to the proper individual
- Completes the end of day processes
- Empties HIPAA container into destruction bin
- Verifies all work stations including exam rooms are logged off
- Assures all lab specimens are processed
- Makes sure doors are locked
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintains an organized and clean work area
- Participates in maintenance of clinical supplies
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Physical requirements
- Able to stand or walk for long periods
- Use of proper body mechanics
- Normal concentration and normal complexity of decision making
- High level verbal and written communication skills
- Above average ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Occupational Exposure:
- High risk exposure to bloodborne pathogens and chemical hazards
Job Qualifications:
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Completion of Medical Assistant program required
- MA Certification
- Strong team player
- Basic computer proficiency
- Strong customer service orientation
- Minimum 1 year experience required
