In this dual role, the Project Manager will support both the Obsolescence Management efforts for the NACS Business Unit as well as fill the role of Operations Project Manager for the Civil Aviation portfolio.
The Project Manager will provide operate as an obsolescence management lead, for a variety of programs, responsible for obsolescence analysis and coordination of DMSMS (Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages) efforts with Program Office, Supply Chain, and Engineering. They will be responsible for identification of DMSMS issues and tracking implementation of DMSMS resolutions to ensure continued product line viability and minimize life-cycle costs. In addition, this position will be responsible for obsolescence tool usage and support, which will require use of internally developed tools to create obsolescence reports and requires interface with a cross-site team to fully understand and serve as subject-matter-expert and administrator for local team.
In addition, the Project Manager will manage the operational flow of repairs for the Civil Aviation product line located in Woodland Hills, this task will require tracking hardware from when it arrives in the facility, thought the repair process, and through shipment to customer. This role will be responsible for monitoring project completion from initiation through delivery to meet revenue and cost projections. This position will require regular interfacing with Program Office, Operations, Contract, and Shipping.
Responsibilities include:
Obsolescence Management:
- Collection of information from multiple internal and external sources (customer, suppliers, internal, SAP, MPLM, etc).
- Expertise in understanding Bills of Material (BOM), Drawings, and Parts Lists.
- Basic analysis of component level data sheets, life cycle data, and YTEOL data to identify and validate obsolescence issues.
- Apply critical thinking to determine impact and potential resolutions of obsolescence issues.
- Coordination and collaboration across internal functional organizations including Program Office, Systems Engineering, Product Support Engineering, Operations, Depot, Supply Chain, and Mission Assurance.
- Occasional preparation and assistance with development of Business Case Analysis for Life of Type Buys (LTBs) vs. redesign decisions, to monitor material usage, and to identify usage requirements in support of LTBs.
- Management and reporting upon obsolescent part inventory utilizing: SAP, MRO, in-house macros, advanced XL skills, and supplier contact.
- Ability to work via Microsoft Teams/Voice/e-mail with Tool Architect team based in Rolling Meadows, IL to learn and execute Tools and Processes in support of local team members.
- Understand end-to-end process and tool use.
- Coordinate team members use and train / assist other with Tools and Process.
- Develop, implement and maintain general Department DMS Management Plan based upon the Tools, Processes, and Techniques that the Site will utilize.
- Apply critical thinking to detect abnormalities in Tool and Processes.; and collaborate to recommend solutions.
- Develop / modify macros in VBA to manipulate CSV, and Excel into desired format and content for use in database applications.
Operations Project Management:
- Resolve manufacturing issues by working with cross functional teams.
- Coordinate responses with functional organizations to keep projects on schedule.
- Track hardware through the repair process, from arrival at the facility to shipment to customer.
- Identify and resolve material, manpower, and machine issues to ensure successful manufacturing performance.
This role can be filled at a level 2 or 3.
Level 2 - Project Management Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of related experience or a Master’s degree
- Demonstrated ability to lead and communicate with cross-functional teams internally and with customers externally
- Presentation and public speaking skills and experience
- Strong critical thinking and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Products including PowerPoint and Excel
- U.S Citizen required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
Level 3 - Principal Project Management Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of related experience or a Master’s degree with 3 years related experience
- Demonstrated ability to lead and communicate with cross-functional teams internally and with customers externally
- Presentation and public speaking skills and experience
- Strong critical thinking and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Products including PowerPoint and Excel
- U.S Citizen required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Obsolescence management experience
- Experience using ERP systems, SAP, MPLM, and Tableau
- Basic familiarity with VBA, C-Sharp, or other programming language
- Experience with Defense Logistics/Operations/Supply Chain
Salary Range: $73,900.00 - $110,900.00Salary Range 2: $91,200.00 - $136,800.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
