The Accident & Health (A&H) Affinity/Consumer Business Development Manager is a highly visible position dedicated to achieving new business production.  This position will be dedicated to driving new business activity in the Individual/Group Supplemental Health and Accident product suite.  This candidate will join a team whose strategic vision is being a valued, trusted provider of innovative and highly relevant A&H products to our partners by forging sustainable relationships through a digital experience with superior service and specialized capabilities.

Responsibilities 

  • Vetting new distribution partners including traditional & digital major medical, life, health, group benefits and affinity agencies/brokers.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive business development strategy targeting individual, group, association, affinity, membership, and financial institution segments.

  • Achieve new business premium growth goals.

  • Communicate the needs of various market segments, product and service requests / requirements, and distribution niches to senior management to facilitate development of solutions to increase new business generation.

  • Work with the product development, technology, underwriting and operations to design/build distribution capabilities and processes required to create a seamless delivery of products/services.  

  • Lead the end-to-end onboarding process, including but not limited to, deal submission, compliance vetting, providing deal structure to underwriting, and managing the review of marketing materials through implementation. 

  • Maintain up-to-date competitor information.

  • Attend key local and national industry conferences.

Knowledge and experience required 

  • In-depth knowledge of A&H specific products (AD&D, Accident Medical, Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity and other supplemental health products).

  • Knowledge of ACA, ICHRA or QSEHRA and limited medical plans and the distribution channels for those products.

  • Bachelor degree strongly preferred or equivalent work experience 5+ years of prior sales and/or broker experience in the A&H Affinity/Consumer space working with associations, affinity organizations, membership clubs, financial institutions, individuals and other traditional and non-traditional groups.

  • Experience with building an agent / sub agent network.

  • Experience working with digital insurance aggregators.

  • Entrepreneurial personality who is results-oriented, highly resourceful and a motivated self-starter.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills, polished verbal, written, and presentation skills.

  • Strong leadership and negotiating skills internal and external.

  • Demonstrated strategic planning and organizational leadership capabilities.

  • Exceptional relationship management and influencing skills; able to work successfully across multiple stakeholders to influence outcomes and drive results.

For individuals assigned or hired to work in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Jersey City, NJ; New York State; and/or Washington State, the base salary range is listed below. This range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

$79,900 - $135,000/year

  • Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs.  The above range may be modified in the future
