Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The National Tax Team specializes in supporting Estate & Trust Services Relationship Managers by providing efficient, accurate and quality client service related to tax return preparation. Key client service elements include: T1, Terminal tax return(T1D) and T3 tax return preparation and support related to account administration. As Associate Tax Officer, you will be accountable for consistently delivering high quality tax returns, demonstrating attention to detail and ensure that key filing deadlines are met. What will you do?

  • Respond the CRA audit request
  • Validate trust profile and follow up with RM/Tax Officer to sign off on trust profile (as a special project)
  • Prepare Estate T3 returns for review
  • Prepare charity return for review
  • Apply trust online access for new accounts.
  • Any special projects can be assigned
  • Help officers validate the Final T3s submitted to T5 tracker and identify AFE accounts for Bare trust project

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Working towards a Bachelor of Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration field 
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to manipulate, organize, and retrieve data using formulas and logic functions
  • Strong personal skills and the ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment
  • Exceptional written/verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized with good attention to detail and very high level of accuracy

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience working with a Financial Institution or Accounting firms
  • Good working knowledge of taxation requirements for estate and trust products
  • Goal to pursue CPA designation

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date; or 
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating immediately after the work term), you must require the full work term as a mandatory component in order to graduate successfully
