What you will be doing
As our Polish branch continues its impressive growth and strengthens its position in a vibrant and expanding market, we are creating a new in‑house legal role to support this momentum. While reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, this role will work closely with the Polish Country Manager and his team, providing proactive, business‑focused legal guidance across a wide range of matters that arise in a dynamic and fast‑moving environment. Operating with a high degree of independence, the position offers the opportunity to shape legal support locally while remaining fully connected to – and backed by – our experienced UK legal team. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident, collaborative lawyer who thrives in an evolving business and wants to make a meaningful impact.
Legal Advice and Support: Play a pivotal role as a trusted legal partner to the business, delivering sharp, commercially minded guidance on the full spectrum of laws, regulations, and industry developments that shape our operations. Dive into a rich variety of work spanning contracts, real estate, intellectual property, data protection, litigation, procurement, employment and broader corporate matters. Own the drafting, negotiation, and execution of a diverse range of business‑critical agreements, and creatively shape practical, risk‑aligned solutions to complex legal questions. You’ll be central in ensuring that our terms, conditions, and commercial frameworks not only meet regulatory expectations but also enable the business to thrive. You will lead contract negotiations with customers and suppliers from legal perspective.
Corporate Support: Collaborate closely with the Chief Legal Officer on key Polish corporate matters and company secretarial matters, including branch governance, filings with the National Court Register (KRS), and ad hoc corporate updates, helping to strengthen governance, support strategic initiatives, and ensure the company’s corporate foundations remain robust as the business continues to grow.
Disputes: Be a strategic force in navigating contentious matters: support the Chief Legal Officer in managing any contractual claims, steering dispute‑resolution strategies, and coordinating with external counsel when needed to secure strong, commercially sensible outcomes.
Compliance: Champion a culture of integrity by contributing to the development, roll‑out, and ongoing enhancement of our compliance policies and procedures. Work with the compliance function to ensure the business consistently operates to the highest standards.
Business support: Support business development in Poland and the region by conducting legal analyses and feasibility studies for introducing technological solutions to the market (e.g. in the context of EU regulations).
Wider jurisdictional support: Support the legal team on basic commercial agreements in other jurisdictions.
What you will bring to the team
We’re looking for a team player, who is motivated by delivering great work and the Hitachi vision. The role will be hybrid, with some days working from the Hitachi office in Warsaw.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and background:
Competencies:
Communication: Exceptional communicator who can cut through complexity with clear, confident, and compelling verbal and written messaging that resonates across all levels of the business.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous and highly organised, with a sharp eye for nuance and accuracy - ensuring precision in every document, decision, and deliverable.
Finalisation Skills: Driven closer who thrives on bringing legal matters to swift, successful, and well‑structured conclusions, keeping momentum high and stakeholders aligned.
Law of new technologies: Understanding the key legal aspects of technology projects (especially in IT) – ability to draft project agreements, license agreements, feasibility studies etc. Understanding of how EU acts (e.g. AI act, DORA) or local acts (e.g. KNF regulations) can influence projects and agreements in Poland.
Work Ethic: Consistently reliable, deeply committed, and quality‑focused - known for delivering thoughtful, dependable work and taking accountability for excellent outcomes.
Prioritisation: A calm, strategic multitasker able to juggle competing priorities, manage diverse workloads, and maintain clarity and focus in fast‑moving environments.
Teamwork: A proactive, collaborative partner who builds strong relationships across the EMEA region and excels both independently and as part of a high‑performing international team. Working in a “one team” model with full alignment with the business and technical teams in Poland.
