Your role

We are looking for a Software Engineer based in one of our Hubs in Boadilla del Monte, Cantabria, Málaga y Portugal office, a key team in our technology ecosystem.

‍Your main tasks will be:

  • Lead technical decision-making and collaborate with architects to design and implement scalable, secure solutions.

  • Oversee projects focused on infrastructure optimization, cost reduction, and automation.

  • Drive Agile project execution, ensuring successful delivery while aligning business and technical objectives.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to cross-functional international teams, fostering collaboration and innovation.

  • Drive the technical vision, providing leadership across the program lifecycle, from initial planning to execution and delivery.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to meet project goals and improve overall system efficiency.

  • Remain attentive to innovations coming from the Group to be able to implement them more easily in Santander UK.

What you’ll bring

You’re sure to fit in if you enjoy technology and are constantly learning about new developments, with a keen interest in the risks faced by the bank. Beyond technical expertise, you should also focus on improving your soft skills and leadership abilities.

Key skills we’ll be looking for:

  • Extensive experience leading projects in Agile environments, particularly in the financial sector (banking/technology preferred).

  • Hands-on experience with DevOps tools (Docker, Jenkins, OpenShift) and continuous integration/delivery pipelines.

  • Demonstrated leadership in large-scale software upgrades and infrastructure changes

  • Experience managing technical programs aimed at cost reduction, infrastructure scaling, and automation.

  • Previous experience working with banking platforms such as Banksphere.

  • Fluent in both English and Spanish with strong communication skills.

The following would also be great...

  • AWS Practitioner certification or experience with cloud services.

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or similar Agile certifications.

  • Deep understanding of JMS messaging with IBM MQ and integration of third-party services

  • Expertise in system integration, including SSO and security protocols like SAML.
